Around SBN: Seahawks Trade for TE Kellen Winslow

Dolphins host William Joseph

According to the team's official website, the Dolphins today hosted DT William Joseph:

A five-year NFL veteran, Joseph (born September 3, 1979, in Miami, Fla.) was a first-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 2003. He played in 55 games in his five years with the Giants and recorded 72 tackles, including seven sacks. Joseph played in all 47 games during his four years at the University of Miami (Fla.) and was an All-Big East selection as a senior.

Some of you may remember him from his days at The U.  At 6'5, 308, Joseph would be an ideal fit to play the defensive end spot in a 3-4 and then shift to the inside when the team goes with 4 down lineman.  Joseph, though, did miss all of the 2007 season with a back injury.

Joseph, as the quote says, is a former first round pick.  And at only 28 years old, he could still have plenty of upside.  If nothing else, he'd provide depth for the defensive line.

Hmmm.......
Me thinks The Tuna is trying to figure out a way to get a quality DT, trad JT to get more picks & go with the Jake, instead of the Chris of the Long family tree.

I'm down with it.

It does look that way...
the other explanation might be that he knows this is a two year job and he is fixing the D first.  In that case, he might still take C. Long.

This is Bullsh*t
I'm seeing descent players being snagged up by other teams and Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland are just sitting with their thumbs up their *sses.  Why didn't we signed Landon Johnson from Cincy he had 109 tackles and was a terror for them and Takeo Spikes is up for grabs and nothing. All we show for this stupid off season is 33 year old furgason a backup QB some medoricacy Special teamers a second rate WR in Earnest Wilford and one Randy starks oh lets not forget the great signing of Yeramiah Bell yippie. When are we going to get the shutdown number one corner, oh we could have signed Chris Crocker too to help out Bell in the Safety position but nope could have went after lance briggs but nope so what now I'm really starting to think about not being a fan at all.
If it ain't Miami Dolphins it's Crap!!!

I think Bill/Jeff
are doing a fine job. We haven't gotten big names but we've gotten young quality depth across the board.

As far as:

~so what now I'm really starting to think about not being a fan at all.~

goes. Buh-bye.

"It all starts with the Dolphins," an executive with another team said Sunday, "and not a single person here has any idea what they're going to do."

This is Bigbillsh*ter
Actually, it doesn't sound like you think much at all...but if you're thinking about not being a Dolphins fan, then please, let me do the thinking for you---I think you should go root for someone else.  Being a TRUE fan is like being married, for better or for worse.  We just went through the worst season ever, the last thing we need is to start second guessing the moves of one of the greatest football minds to be associated with the game and the best chance we've had since Shula was here to have a winning team.  Please, calm down, be a good fan, recite the words to the Miami Dolphin fight song and be patient...the show is about to begin.

BigBillShater... Moronic post..
This team needs bodies.  Good players, not super-stars that will cause us to break the bank.  The right strategy in my eyes is the one being employed by the new regime - that is bringing in good, solid young players.  Start building the foundation for the team and then as you move forward in the draft or next year, begin to supplement those "good" players, with stars in some key positions that can really make the difference and complement those players.

Football is a team sport, not an individual sport.  Perfect example is that we had one of the best defensive players in the NFL on this team the last few years, where did that get us?  How good was that defense last year with JT on it?  How good was our LB corps when Zach went down?  (No depth)  How about our DB's?  Talk about a lack of depth!!!

Where this organization got in trouble in the past is chasing the big name players and not building a quality team.  Whether it be in giving up all of our draft picks in trades or over-paying for FA's, or flat making ridiculous decisions... (AJ Feeley? Lamar Gordon?  Passing on Drew Brees and taking Jamar Fletcher instead?)  The list goes on....

I think your best bet is to go hide your head in the sand for a few years and come back to being a Phin fan in about 2-3 years.  I think you'll like what you see.

Definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...

as far as I remember
the Giants were big on him (obviously) but he really could not stay healthy. Quite a letdown, cause he was a monster at UM

Takeo Spikes?
Does anyone know if the Dolphins are interested in Spikes, has he met with us yet?
