Highlights from Ricky Williams interview on DP Show

Nothing really of interest, but here is what he said:

Bill called Ricky in his office the last week of the season and told him he wanted and believed in him.

Ricky said he used to "lie to himself".

Says he tries to "stack the deck" against smoking when thinks about doing it again.

Said he likes to get high when reading. He liked to get high while reading the Bible for example.

Playing football and being competitive is his "favorite thing in the whole wide world", but being a celebrity you can sometime lose your humanity.

He is gonna play his butt off, never complain and give 100% day in and out this year.

Said he hasn't gotten high in at least a year.

Just a typical Ricky interview. Nothing new, but I wouldn't looked for him to be traded/released the way he said was talking.

thanks
sounds like he'll at least be given a very fair shot to get playing time this year

He's coming
at a very, very low price/cost and was, at least in the past, an excellent back.

The fins have virtually nothing to lose. If Ricky fails a test then his NFL career is likely over and if he passes his tests, then he can make a contribution.

wanny
Obviously you can't blame one person for another's problem.  It is Ricky's fault.  However, I believe if  Parcells was the coach of the Dolphins when Wandstedt was coaching this team.   Those positive tests never would have happened.  It happened after the low scoring game we lost to New England up in the snow.  Ricky even came out and said - he didn't have any belief in that staff that we were ever going to get over the hump, and that they were simply relying on him too much in the offense.

CAN YOU BLAME HIM???   HE WAS RIGHT!!!  WANNY WAS AN IDIOT!!!

It's unfortunate the positive tests occurred.  But lets be honest.  Do you really think Ricky is the only guy smoking in the NFL?  He just stopped caring and didn't take the necessary steps to avoid a positive test.  I love the guy, I'm glad he's back.  I'm glad Parcells is more intelligent about this situation than Wandstedt's and Cameron's dumb ass.

I have a hard time thinking that
anyone on this blog with common sense, would say that Wannstedt and/or Cameron are anywhere near the same class as Parcells. Those 3 should never be used even in the same sentence...

Anyway..

Of course course Ricky isn't the only one smoking. Just like Merriman isn't the only one on steriods or PED's. A few people get caught or perhaps are chosen to get caught while the racket goes on. Sports that try to tackle these problems, like baseball for example, create a big problem of losing credibility. The NFL is just glossing all of it over because they know that by ignoring it (at least for now) they can keep on making tons of money.

For that matter, I don't care if Ricky Williams openly smoked weed and played ball. Weed has been declared 'illegal' in this country but it is a bit of hypocrisy since it is just another drug like alcohol. Besides, Ricky is a quiet, shy guy who probably sits on his coach and smokes to relax. Unlike a lot of pro athletes who get drunk and drive, beat people up, etc.

Maybe
a 49ers uni would suit Ricky better than one from the east coast...

I say keep him
If you trade him you realy wont get much for the guy.If rickey can add a few pounds to his body and play atleast half as good as when he first got to miami then thats great. But i say keep him and make him go to rehab,He just needs somethean to focus on and a good coach to depand on.Im not getten all emotional on the guy but if bill can take care of rickey i believe he can get him back in shape to be the guy we would love him to be....

Did you see him on that Pros vs Joes show?
If he is in that kind of shape when he comes back, he will be very tough to stop.  I have watched Ricky through the years, but I have never seen him as bulked up as on that show.  The guy looked like 230 lbs of solid rock.  And it is the first time I have seen Ricky show his mean streak.  He was putting a hurting on those guys, and diggin it.

Just to clarify...
Ricky has always come across as a "peace, love and happiness" sort, but he REALLY seems to like hitting people.

The funniest thing I've read on the internets.
He liked to get high while reading the Bible for example.

Williams
Why are we giving this guy another shot?  He  has no passion for the game.  If we are rebuiding lets do it with players that want to play.
