McFadden just ran a 4.27 at the combine

First of all - amazing! Incredible speed for a back who is over 200 pounds. Almost makes me cringe at missing him but we are going to have to. This is only good news for the Phins though, if he had run a 4.4 it wouldn't have surprised anyone but a 4.27 could be the icing on Jerry Jone's cake that forces him to deal.

He also ran a 4.33 his 2nd time
So that proves that he's got truly elite speed.

I wouldn't cringe too much, Offer Doll...
...as McFadden is the only name that the Dolphins haven't been linked with in the upper echelon of players.  That loud thundering disinterest you hear could actually be a bit of deception.  At this point, I think Parcells and Ireland really feel that they're dealing with expansion-team talent and will take the best player available with each and every pick.  I think anyone is possible, whether it's with the first overall pick or a trade down, and that includes McFadden.

Go Dolphins.

Expansion team talent?
I read the comment about Parcells saying he has "3 guys" but I don't know, expansion-level seems a stretch to me. We already have some quality talent plus we'll be adding more in free agency. I just don't see Parcells taking the best guy available at each pick, it seems too scattershot for him.

That said, it does seem like McFadden is a rare talent at Arkansas he seemed like a man playing amongst boys. I love the fact that besides running well he can move out wide and play receiver and he can throw like LT (he played QB in high school) which keeps the cornerbacks from cheating up on him. The guy just has some incredible tools. I still don't think we take him though.

I'm pretty sanguine about whoever we pick, I'd be shocked if we took McFadden, but not disappointed. I'd also be fine with either Jake or Chris Long, Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis.  Personally I hope we take Jake Long, the guy had two penalties his entire career. Two! He only allowed one sack his senior season. Pretty awesome, even if he isn't Joe Thomas he's still going to be a great tackle.

I agree with you on all fronts...
...except I worry about Dorsey's health.  Otherwise, yeah, I'd be happy with any of the above.  Jake Long would also be number one on my list.

Go Dolphins.
