Video Time!

This week, I got two videos for you. And neither is a Miami Dolphin. But both have been talked about by Dolphin fans as potential trade targets.

The first is Chad Johnson. Some people have mixed feelings on him, but the one thing you can't deny is this: he's a great wide receiver:

The other video is a tribute to big Shaun Rogers and his interception return against the Broncos:

The big man can run!

That's all for now. Have a good Saturday, all!

Well with the Chad Johnson I would be able to give up the second 2nd round pick for him, but that would be it. Roy Williams on the other hand I would give up the first 2nd round pick (1st round pick 32nd if you think about it). Now for Shaun rodgers he is not worth anything, if he was cut then maybe, but other than that there is better free agent DT's out there for us on march 1st. Besides if this is his only highlight of his career then they can keep him. I havent heard anything great from this guy eccept his off field issues, so I will take the chances on Albert Haynesworth or draft Sedrick Ellis or Glenn Dorsey.
If it ain't Miami Dolphins it's Crap!!!

Not much
out there in free agency. There's a few interesting guys. Here's what I've found from Football's Future site (I think)...

Bryant Johnson, UFA, Arizona Cardinals - Johnson flew under the radar once again this season, but those in the know consider him fairly talented. Star receivers like Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin overshadow him, but Johnson runs great routes, has good hands, and at 6'3" his size makes him an appealing option. He's caught at least 35 passes in each of his four seasons, including 49 receptions in 2004, and has a touchdown scored in each season, with four coming in '06. Although he has had a drop-off in production this season, Johnson will likely find a bigger role in another offense in '08.

Drew Carter, UFA, Carolina Panthers - Carter hasn't racked up yards by any means, but he has tended to be a decent passing weapon in the red zone. Carter has good size and runs fairly good routes. He's out-produced receiver Keary Colbert, and he's played like the number two behind Steve Smith. With Dwayne Jarrett waiting in the wings, Carter could be on the out, or he could be retained as a third option at best. The number two spot is something Carter will probably desire at this point in his career, and a team looking to compliment a speedy number one will consider him. Chances are that he remains no more than third receiver.

Andre' Davis UFA Houston Texans - The Virginia Tech product hasn't had the chance to play a whole lot during his career until an early season injury to Andre Johnson opened the door to more playing time. Davis responded with several solid performances, including a 117-yard effort with a score in week four against Atlanta, and although Johnson's return will cut into his opportunities greatly, Davis has still been able to impress as a return man on special teams. His 734 kickoff return yards with a score might encourage the Texans to keep Davis in Houston.

If they don't opt for one of the above that would come cheaper, then I'd like the Dolphins to wait until preseason, in August sometime, to see if we can get a receiver like Chad for less. This is what the Patriots did to get Randy Moss.

Almost forgot
to opine on the D-line situation here. I think there are two names Dolfans should keep their eyes on: Green Bay's Corey Williams (6-4, 313 pounds) and 49ers backup Isaac Sopoaga (6-2, 334). We all know how Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland place a premium on size on offense AND defense.

Among others that might be looked at: Carolina backup (and former Cane) Damione Lewis -- and these three who were injured at season's end -- New Orleans' Brian Young, Cleveland's Ethan Kelley and Oakland end/tackle Tommy Kelly.

The available Defensive Ends in free agency isn't great. Two who MIGHT BE of interest are Tennessee's Antwan Odom (eight sacks?) and San Francisco's Marques Douglas.

Regardless of what is seen as weakness in Shaun Rodgers, his strengths can not be overlooked. He's a monster!! The team needs a Nose Tackle and he will fit and FILL the spot, period. I think Shaun ended with 7 sacks this season and he's huge at 6'4" and 340lbs. (Remember, size matters)

I don't remember where I saw this, but it's said the Dolphins don't need to trade for Shaun Rogers; he's a free agent that can't be franchised.

How's this for a look -- Shaun Rogers at Nose Tackle and Chris Long at Defensive Tackle in a 3-4 defense? Oooo baby!

Rogers
Rogers is not a free agent...he's got 2 or 3 more years left on his contract in Detroit

Well,
Damn. So now some of those others look better, since he'll be a little expensive.
