I think what you are seeing here...

from the NFL & Goodell, is a league in complete spin control.

Look, no matter what you think of BB & NE, this scandal, any scandal really, is bad for the league. And let's not kid ourselves, this is a business first, and a football league second.

Scandals, bad press, integrity issues - none of these are good for business. So you can bet Goodell and many in the league hierarchy would love to just bury this and have everyone forget about it.

This is one reason why the NFL has not seriously tackled the drug & PED (steriods, HgH, etc) issue. All you need to do is look at baseball or even pro cycling to see what happens to a sports credibility when it seriously tries to do something about PEDS.

yawn!!

this is one of the dirty little secrets of the NFL. when the taping was first reveal, there were reports and innuendo that 10-15 teams do the same or similar things. cheating doesnt count unless you get caught. (anyone remeber the saban taping brady's cadence?? - oh that's right they all got that off the TV)

So now that the commish has decreed that this type of cheating is verboten, so who cares about what happen in 2000 when it was just the elephant in the middle of the NFL. so if it happened in 2007 after the commish ruled let me know otherwise 'let's move on, there is nothing to see here, these are not the cheaters you're looking for'

Personally...

I care about anything that 'piles onto' that franchise. Patriot choking and cheating makes a fin fan's 2008 offseason (after a 1-15 record and process of gutting/rebuilding the team) a little bit more tolerable.
