J-Peezy defends Plax...

Joey Porter Defends Plax...

"Plaxico is like a brother to me. I take it real personal how he's being treated," Porter said. "Everybody has their mistakes, but that's exactly what they are ... Until you've been in that situation, when you've been robbed at gunpoint or you've had a gun waved in your face or had your house broken into before or been carjacked, you really don't know what it's like."

I found it an interesting story...I hope you all enjoy that...I hope that isn't old...

I agree with what Porter is saying

Guns in your face will change the way you see things. Plax owning a gun wasn’t stupid, nor was his desire to protect himself in public. The stupid part was carrying his own weapon in his sweatpants. All the money he has, wouldn’t it make more sense to hire bodyguards who are licensed to carry firearms? I have no problem with him trying to protect himself, but he should’ve done it in a smarter way.

I think he should have done something than other carry a gun and such. If he is so scared why not hire a body guard or not even go to that club?? But yead again J Peezy is being himself in speaking his own voice.

My 2 Cents

I was going to make a fan post but I saw this one already made. My 2 cents is that I do agree with him about the dangerous nature of this world, especially for a celebrity. I feel like that isn’t the argument at all. The problem is that Plax did not have a permit for the gun. I am all for them having guns as long as they have a permit. Yes, protect yourself, make yourself feel good but it is the law to have a permit with it. I think his rant almost looks ignorant that he completely overlooked that aspect, the true nature of the problem with what Plax did.

Let this season BE GINN!

he did have a permit, but he carried the gun across state lines. the big deal is that he carried it across state lines after it had been “used in a crime”. i really dont think plax should go to jail for this, fine him, put him on probation, but dont send him to jail. thats nonsense.

Ah

I am reading that now but again, I stand by my point. If you want to protect yourself with the gun, go through the necessary rules and laws to get it. I understand it is a pain in the ass to get it in New York but there is a reason for that.

i disagree.

if it were any one of us, we’d be in the slammer faster than you could blink.

Sports figures shouldn’t get a free pass just cause they’re sports figures.

Celebrities enjoy preferential treatment at times, sure...

but if he wasn’t a ‘sports figure’, he wouldn’t have felt compelled to carry a piece.

'kay?

Where is the whole of this “story”. Joey hasn’t been sayin’ much of nothin’ lately. Is that comment about this latest Plaxico event or a previous one? Where and when on the quote??

by jpfan on Dec 10, 2008 1:31 PM EST reply actions

Okay. I found the story. Not being an athlete I can’t say I understand what Joey is saying on this. I just really don’t understand why ANYONE, let alone an athlete with 100k(??) worth of jewelry would go to a place EXPECTING trouble. Why bother? A club is not the supermarket, or cleaners, or Home Depot. And an unregistered gun is illegal in NY. Shit, I can’t even get a damn permit here!

i dont remember if this was from the shitty punisher (thomas jane)

or from Desperado, but at one point homeboy takes out a knife and shoots the blade out into another guys neck. wouldn’t it have just been easier to bring a switch er something instead of a gun. plus, guns are no good. peace not piece.

Jim Rome had him as his final burn yesterday, the Colt McCoy episode

he was basically backing Joey & Plax, just saying it was a bad situation & he was lucky he shot himself not another person.

“peace not piece” That’s a good one but I don’t know about the blade either. We just had a NYC bus driver stabbed to death by a nut passenger – who didn’t even pay to get on!

So you don’t have to be an athlete to be at risk, especially here in NYC. But a relevant difference is, the average one of us can’t afford security. The nurse riding the train or bus home at midnight can’t (legally) carry a gun, nor can she afford to hire security, otherwise she wouldn’t be trying to get to work or home on public transportation at midnight. I’m down with JP but Plaxico was just an idiot here. He needs to be where O.J. and Vick are for criminal stupidity. And I don’t thirst for black guys to be imprisoned but jeopardizing an amount of money that most of us can’t even imagine – prison or the loony bin. For 35m I’d go straight from the arena to home and back every freakin’ day. Plax is in lala land concerning today’s economy and I pray to the good Lord that Joey is clear and doesn’t jeopardize his money or allow any shady “advisors” to steal his money.
