Ask Baltimore Beatdown: Questions for the Ravens Blogger

Okay, perhaps we all got caught up in the excitement of the moment and didn't know how to handle the fact that we are BOTH in the playoffs after embarrassing 2007 seasons. But can't we all try to get along? I admire your loyalties and you should do the same with our fans. I'll try to keep them focused on the game and let's do away with the personal comments and focus on what will be a great game. So post your game-specific questions here and I'll come back to respond the rest of the week. Be serious and keep it clean for the serious fans who are truly interested in hearing the justification of our opinions based on real football stats or facts. The trash can stilll fly on the rest of your site or over at www.BaltimoreBeatdown.com.

Let's start over and try to appreciate the opportunity that we have this weekend while the other rivals of both teams have to sit at home, watch us, complain about lost chances and start their own off season soap operas!

So bring it! Thanks.

So

What’s the comparison of Flacco in Week 7 than to now?

The Phins are awesome. Period.

by Phinsguy99 on Dec 31, 2008 10:29 AM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The week 7 Flacco had five games of pro experience

and we all know how much faster the pro game is than the college game, much less CFS (formerly Div. 1-AA)! He had just came off three consecutive losses to three really tough teams (all in the playoffs) and was at a low point. He had a great game with a 120 QB rating (best of season, although he had a 115 this past week). Now he has 16 games under his belt, along with some tough road games, such as Dallas (yea!) and the Giants (ouch!). He is very poised and calm, rare for a rookie and has looked real good taking his time, slowing down the game, finding his second or even third read and reacting. Very few TO’s since that three game losing streak (only 4 int since week six!). Huge difference between the first Flacco and the one you’ll see Sunday.

No one even mistook McGahee

for a Rhodes Scholar. His timing is bad, as well as the words by themselves. He got his butt thrown out of Buffalo and the Bills fans laughed at us when we traded for him. I’ve always though the guys from the U would listen and respect Ray and Ed, but Willis is just being Willis. Another run like the end of the Dallas game and he will be alright in my book!

Was your team the Skin, before the Ravens?

I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(21 years and counting)

by Aleta on Dec 31, 2008 11:34 AM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Personally?

I actually rooted for them for one year, ironically when they beat the Dolphins in the ‘83 Super Bowl. You’ll have to give me a pass on that one though. I had just met my wife and we were in Georgetown, a small town in DC the night before and it was….well….magical and I just got caught up in all the hoopla, as well as her perfume. So, no comments, please and try to understand what happens when you’re 25 and get “bit” by the “bug!”

What's your gameplan to beat the Dolphins, if you were Cam Cameron?

And do you think it will differ from what the Ravens will actually put out there on Sunday?

by DolphDallas on Dec 31, 2008 11:39 AM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Cam was a horrible coach

but he was a great offensive coordinator in San Diego and now Baltimore. Norv Turner is the same way, as are a few others. He has made a huge difference and not “babied” Flaco like Billick would have and ruined Boller by that. He will probably do a lot of what we’ve done successfully all season. We will stubbornly stick to the run regardless of success until the fourht quarter, when our big backs begin to wear down the defense. We did it to you in the first game and to Dallas in the 16th game. Our passing game is not the lame stuff you knew it was last few years as Flacco can wing it to Mason, who is perhaps one of the best possession receivers in the game, and our long threat is Mark Clayton.

In your team's losses (all of them close except for the Colts)...

what was the secret to the winning team’s strategy (besides Walt Coleman) and how have the Ravens tried to adjust?

by DolphDallas on Dec 31, 2008 11:40 AM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The Giants game was a blowout as well

but the close games we lost (twice to Pittsburgh and once to Tennessee) we lost because we had the lead and couldn’t shut them down for the last drive or so. Long passes feed right into our hands. Short slants across the middle by the tight ends and RB’s is the best way to move the ball on us. Abandon the run and the Wildcat, as it is predicated on going wide and the Ravens are the fastest defense from sideline to sideline in the league. That’s why it didn’t work and won’t. Try a trick play or two and get Ginn loose for a special Teams TD. That’s it, but don’t pass that on to Sparano!

If a train leaves Baltimore traveling to Miami going 50mph......

at what time do all playoff hopes and dreams get derailed for the Ravens?

Agreed

You will also have to stop our running game. Combined with that and flustering the rookie, you’d have a chance. Don’t stop the run, can’t get to Flacco = a long day for you.

What team shut down your run game this season?

What was the outcome? How did the Ravens adjust?

-LCFF

by LeftCoastFinFan on Dec 31, 2008 1:03 PM EST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The Titans did for the most part

and so did the Colts and Giants. However, the last two had big leads on us and we had to go to the air to play catch up, so that’s misleading. The Steelers of course are always tough to run on but even McClain had 87 yards on them in our last second loss recently.

You can’t retract your words, and if you do, without a complete and total apology, then screw you. Die on the vine and choke on your own hipocritical vomit.

Questions we can ask Rexx after Sundays game

1-So why did Ray Lewis get outsmarted by the NFL MVP CP 10 after all?
2-Does Cam Cam like Gatorade better than the taste of John Harbaugh?
3-Do you think Joey Flacco will be OK after that huge hit from J Peezay?
4-What will you do with that Hawaiian shirt now?

If I left anything out, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks

Hmmm....don't deal well with the heat, Husker

hope you’re not a Nebraska fan, ‘cause you team’s best days were when I loved them in the 70’s, and they still run the old school wishbone which is why no one ever makes the pros out of that scool in the skill positions anymore.

Anyway, nice way to continue the hatred. It’s a game, baby! Happy New Year.

But, honestly……I could care less about a ravens fan perspective, and further more I don’t think I like you………Wether you were asked here or you just showed up on your own, I thought I’ld let it be known………..it’s on Sunday !!! I am going to get any crowd I am near pre-game, during the game, and post-game to shout down any Ravens fans in sight…….Even though I’m not a Browns fan, I have many friends who are…….So, I really don’t like the Ravens….ART MODELL IS A DICK !! And based on some of your prior comments……..so are you !!!!

Wait a second

I’m only basing that claim on what I saw in October, when I was there is a sea of purple jerseys and cheering Ravens fans that even those watching on TV say they heard the Ravens fans cheering from your stadium. Isn’t that a fair reason to expect the same, when the news up here say that over 10,000 Ravens fans will be going to the game and are buying up all the tickets that are online? I see nothing out of sorts on that claim. Be fair!

Uhh,...zero.

Jim actually was a ravens QB in the past and is now the head coach at Stanford. He is rumored to be a candidate for the Raiders position which would be ironic, because that would make two teams with head coaching brothers (John and Jim) who both have d-coordinator brothers (Balt=Rex Ryan; Oak=Rob Ryan).

WTF does that mean? What’s the connection between purple and the climate? Do the Dolphins wear pastel colors because of the cool, eclectic climate in South Beach?
