PS456's Thoughts - AFCE CHAMPS EDITION!
WOW - what away to cap off our incredible year, from worst to first, from laughing-stocks to a respected team! And hell, if this is just stage one of the rebulding project, then damn, we're going to be a force for years to come. But enough about the far off future, lets focus on the present.
"It wasn't going to happen any other way...It just wasn't."
That's what Pennington said earlier in the week about this match up and fate was on our side tonight. Chad had a great game, throwing for 200 yards and 2 TDs, not to mention he was as accurate as ever. Early on, he was struggling a bit but he got into a groove. He'll never admit it but he has to be thrilled that he got his vengeance against the pricks who cut him, and in all likelihood Mangini and Tannenbaum will be out of a job. He was calm, composed and efficient. I think that bomb to Ted Ginn was a big middle finger to anyone who says he can't throw deep.
Dan Henning opened up the playbook, he finally showed some new wrinkles to the wildcat. One was similar to that play we saw earlier in the year against Houston, but Ricky dropped that pass. Another play involved a quick throw from Ronnie Brown to Joey Haynos. The pass was low but Haynos could have had that one. We also saw some interesting formations, mainly composed of 2 TEs and RBs. and we used the spread a few times. Oh and there was that flea flicker from Chad to Teddy Ginn for a great gain.
The WRs and TEs all did their job, especially Ted Ginn, what a catch in the endzone and he did a great job of catching that bomb from Chad. Bess and Fasano's stats might not be as impressive but they stepped up when they had to, Speaking of TEs, I wish David Martin a speedy recovery, and that was a great asdjustment by Anthony Fasono(Hereby reffered to as F-Train) The RBs were active in the passing game as well.
We rode the RxR express tonight and we have to give props to the other 2" Horsemen". It doesnt bother me that much that Ronnie didnt get the 20+ touches that I've been begging for, these guys made plays and we beat the Jets, I'm happy with that.
Oh and Jake dominated Calvin Pace, you think he regrets not signing here?
If Coach P's goal was to shut down the run game and force Favray to beat us, then they did just that, Favray was on his ass every other snap despite not gettng sacked, We got a load of pressure and showed him serveral different looks. Overall the D played well.
Andre Goodman had hell of a game picking off two passes, the secondary looked okay, they didnt give up the big play despite giving up alot of passing yards.
Crowder didnt look 100% he was burnt on a few plays, hopefully he gets better. He played well though.
Congrats to Phillip Merling on his first pick 6, and in Favray's last game, way to go big guy.
Peezy had a tough time with that man mountain D'Brick.
I think Sparano is goinbg to have a nice talk with his team about fundamentals this week.
DC$ is $$$$$$
John Denney losing his job is the least of his worries, we hardly knew ye Mr Denney.
When's the last time we blocked a punt?
Lots of history made today, I believe we broke the TO record set by the Giants, Brees passed 5000 yards but couldnt break #13's record. CP10 is the first Fins QB to throw for over 3500 yards since Marino. No team has gone from 1-15 to 11-5, let alone make the playoffs and win their divison. Oh and congrats Detroit, at least you guys accomplished something this year other than rob the Cowgirls and fire Matt Millen.
Aww how cute Mangina thought he could run the wildcat on us.
Speaking of the Cowgirls, does Jerry Jones want to reconsider keeping Wade Phillips? Hey T.O had good game thats all that matters right
The Chargers might be the most mediocre playoff team, yet they have a hell of alot of talent, they got in inspite of Norv Turner, not because of him.
Mortenson said earlier today that Parcells might opt out of his contract with the Fins, I must remind him that he is 0 for 3 on his big scoops this year.
Oh The Pats might want to hang on to Matt Cassel, Tom Brady had to have a 4th knee surgery.
Brett Favray is in reality a12 year old girl with grey hair, way to show your true colors out there by sprinting into the tunnel, before the rest of your team at least try to be a good sport,
Let me add this: there were audible chants of " Lets Go Dolphins" in Giants Stadium, how awesome is that?

Nice write up bud!!! FP worthy, imo.
I was really peeved about the Baby Brett “running home to cry” bad sport crap. Big pansy!
I think Parcells will probably opt out, because he gets one shot to do it, and he gets paid 9 million at one time. If he doesn’t opt out because of the team sale, he loses the chance and he has to work for a few more years to earn the same 9 mil.
But you know what? I don’t care! I think he will probably still coach Ireland, AND I think our management is set for the long haul. I think we would be fine. Not that I WANT him to leave, but I think it would be okay.

& what about the empty seats, in the 4th quater?
That was AWESOME! ; )
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(21 years and counting)
how about that ST play?
I think the improvement of our special teams has been overshadowed by CP10 and gang, but we have made quite the stride since the Raiders game.
"check that...the 29th of Feb. this year.....why is that the record day for hits? Did Matty have the Kim Kardashian sex tape or something?"

"yes he did. and Jersquall recut it to look like Marino was boning her."

Agreed!
How heartbreaking would it have been to have fought so hard only to see Leon Washington return a kickoff for 7 points tying the game or putting them in the lead. Nice play by Erik Walden flying in out of nowhere and getting him without a costly face-mask penalty.
Key Acquisition! And more future potential than Keith Davis.
Congratulations all
We watched the game on the edge of our seats, rooting for our playoff lives, but to no avail. As Belichick put it, we weren’t rooting for the Jets, we were rooting for the Patriots. Great season for you and Pennington. You gotta respect him in spite of our team’s rivalry. As far as the Jets go, no respect at all. They didn’t deserve the win (as much as we needed it) and the great and powerful Favre showed his true colors once again. Who made out better in that trade by the way???
Anyway, just thought I’d stop by with some congratulations. Do the AFC East proud.
Keep the faith!

congrats fish…from 1-15 to this. great story. sparano did a great job. it was nice to see penny show up another ESPN/Sports Show camera hog. now if we could just get him to run TO, Romo and the Cowgirls out of the country…we might see someone else in the highlight reels. there comes a time when the media has to acknowledge that the media darlings aren’t very good. some flat out average and obscenely overrated-Romo/Favre
my thoughts on the first matchup between ravens/fins- penny missed more than a few open receivers that could have been trouble for us. he’ll be better this time around..But Flacco is 50% better than that meeting and has almost doubled his number of plays…not to mention familiarizing himself with all of them/NFL football. it comes down to who improved the most since October. we’ve won 9 of last 11 (lost to Pitt/killed by Giants) my thoughts are very biased and this is your site so I’ll leave it for Sunday. We are both fortunate to be playing and after last year – who would have thunk it!
well said!
and agreed. Flacco has improved; both teams essentially were learning a new scheme on both side of the ball, so it comes down to who executes better.
I would honestly have to say that I think the Bmore D is better than the Fins, overall. But the Fins can stop the run, and force opposing QBs to beat us.
I think Flacco can make deeper throws, but overall CP is the better QB at this point (smarter decisions, fewer mistakes, better leadership). Don’t take this as a knock on Flacco. It is just experience.
With good game planning, play calling, and execution, a good Offense can score on any Defense, and I think the Fins are executing well right now. SO I think the game will come down to us being able to stop McGahee and McClain (MC²).
If Baltimore can run, they win. If we can stop your running game, we win.
IMO
