Long and Pennington both Pro Bowl alternates

I hardly ever say this - so mark this day on your calendar.
Nice job by Armando Salguero. Armando, you see, did some leg-work and found out that both Jake Long and Chad Pennington are Pro Bowl alternates.
Long was selected as a first alternate - meaning if any of the 3 tackles named to the team decide not to play in the Pro Bowl due to injury, Long will be on his way to Hawaii.
Pennington was selected as a second alternate, with the first alternate being Philip Rivers. So he would need two AFC QBs to drop out in order to make the Pro Bowl team for the first time in his career.
Congrats to both Jake and Chad - though we all know both, especially Chad, were big-time snubs!

Rivers is maybe the second best QB in the AFC right now
behind Manning. He’s playing out of his head. It should be him and Pennington in place of Favre and Cutler in the Pro Bowl.

We all know Jake should be there instead of Peters
but for a rookie LT to lead fan voting, and be the first alternate for the Pro Bowl is a HUGE accomplishment. It definitely bodes well for his future, because he will get better.

I would have to say no
just because the turnover low is 14, and that would mean the team had to be 1-15 the year before.. Even the greatest turnaround in NFL history (Colts – 3-13 ==> 13-3) had more than 14 turnovers..

Brett always seems to skip it lately.. and I have a funny feeling Peyton will getting some kind of knee surgery (probably arthroscopic) at season’s end. He just hasn’t seemed right all year moving around..
