It's time to acknowledge Wayne Huizenga
If you're like me, you've probably grown to like Wayne Huizenga through the years. While Miami hasn't been a great team during his tenure, it's certainly not for a lack of effort. He didn't pretend to throw his ego around or insinuate himself into football related decisions like a Jerry Jones (thank god- How's Roy Williams working out, Jerry?). If he is faulted for anything, it's for putting too much trust into the football experts he inserted into decision-making roles. Hey it's not his fault, he just wanted to win. If anything, Wayne has demonstrated that he's a huge Dolphins fan, and he's been through so many heartaches.
We all wanted hired guns like Jimmy Johnson and Nick Saban, when nobody else could lure these guys to their teams, and what happened? Voila, Uncle Wayne made it happen. Jimmy then recommended we hire Dave Wannstedt, and Wayne put his trust in Jimmy and allowed it to happen. Saban wanted an indoor practice bubble, and Wayne didn't bat an eye., only to see Nick " I will not be the Alabama coach" Saban, bolt for Tuscaloosa.
It's amazing to me, that with all of Wayne's good intentions, begging for anyone to take control and take the beautiful legacy of this team to the next level, nobody could do it. In retrospect, everyone was just a hired gun, and nothing worked, despite Wanye being one of the best Pro Football owners.
Sadly, the past few seasons have taken a toll on an aging Huizenga, and since his kids had no interest in the Dolphins, he looked to sell when we were at our absolute worst. Now that this team is having one of its best seasons in almost a decade, it's sad that Wayne is on his way out. You know he's proud of this team. I still can't forget him crying in the owners box when we beat Baltimore last year. The moment still gives me chills. When so many owners only care about the bottom line, it's nice to know that our guy bleads aqua and orange. To Wayne Huizenga, this season is for you, for your love of the Dolphins, and for always trying to add to our illustrious history. Cue the sappy music...

Well said Shula13
For me personally, I don’t have nor will have any hate for the man. I think he’s one of those “nice guys” that tried to do the right thing, but got bit on the ass sometimes because of it. The end justifies the means……..and he has now put us into a great position through his hire of Parcells and Co. to do some great things. Maybe one day, we’ll look back and see that one of the best things we had was Mr. Huizenga, without him, no matter what you say……this wouldn’t have happened.
Shula13…..get yourself an icon…..you put some good post up, you deserve better than that SBnation generic. : )

AMEN
I felt like I was one of the only people here who likes H as an owner, while everyone else blames him for Jimmy, the Stache, Saban, Cam, etc etc etc.. We all supported each move until it blew up in our face. H did what he felt would take his team to the top. He consistently got the big-name hire that everyone else was after, like you said. And now, on his way out, he leaves us with the Best of the Best in Bill Parcells. And he sells the team to a man with DEEP pockets, who’s said he’s willing to spend to win. What more could you want ouf of an owner? At least he’s not Jerry, Al, or Cuban right?

Agreed
I love Wayne, He has given as much money as needed to this team just to make it better. He brought in the big name coaches, the big name GM’s and has done what an owner has to do to make the team better. Just sometimes those things didn’t work.
I don’t know how Ross will do but I really hope he has the same mentality of Wayne.

Marlins, one of my favorite NL teams

thanks
Thanks for commenting guys – like Nicky said, we all supported the decisions until it blew up in our face.
Wayne has been a class act – I can’t comment on the Marlins, but for my beloved Fins, Wayne is a huge fan.
I’ll get myself an icon soon!
Dan is better with a cast on his leg than half the quarterbacks in the league, including me.

Couldn't agree more
You have to love an owner who is willing to do anything. His last move and probably his biggest as an owner was brining Parcells as a last minute steal from the Falcons. Even if he is gone his fingerprints are all over the turn around this season. For that and that alone I thank him, he never gave up trying to win.

Chop'em & Sell'em
If you’re like me, you’ve probably grown to like Wayne Huizenga through the years.
I guess I’m not like you. I hate H. Wayne Huizenga. The guy has been a knee-jerk of an owner and has allowed corporate stiffs too much control in football affairs.
He cares for the team as much as he would any other business. That’s it. Nothing more or less.
The fate of the Dolphins would have been the same as the Marlins (wait, it kind of was anyway) had the Phins done better under Huizenga.
He wanted Johnson to win quick and then he could sell the team.
Hated Johnson. Hated Saban. Huizenga allows his political and religious beliefs to interfere too much with sports decisions.
It happens on Sunday. But football ain’t church. Thankfully we brought in a guy who could care less about a player’s spiritual beliefs. God doesn’t win football games, despite what Ray Lewis might say.
Actually, I’d say it like this: God doesn’t win football games, Ray Lewis does.
No offense meant here. We’re all Dolphins fans. I just think that guy should have stuck to things he knows. Like garbage.

It was a touching moment when he cried in the box
But I’m with Phinisher, he is a business man.
Although it was a good article Shula13. You do make an impressive argument
