Would the Fins bring back Jason Taylor??
Apparently, JT feels he's not worth the $8 mil he's due next year and feels the Skins will cut him loose after this season. So does this new regime bring him back, maybe for the minimum and use him in spot situations? This from Rotoworld and the Washington Post...
Jason Taylor says he wouldn't be surprised if the Redskins release him after the 2008 season.
Taylor is due $8 million in 2009. "I'm a realist," he said. I'm not worth $8 million. I've had two surgeries in the last two months...but at the end of the day, I'll be the first to tell you, I stink right now." Taylor has only 25 tackles (17 solo), 1.5 sacks, and no forced fumbles in 11 games. Source: Washington Post Why not? He says"this dog can still hunt!" Maybe for the league minimum or little more he can certainly find some spot duty.

I wouldn't mind
it would just reek of him trying to jump back on the bandwagon after tuck-and-rolling his way off before this season.. Not sure how the majority of fans would take to that..
It would have to be a for a low salary, because we’re really not in the business of bringing in old vets for big money. From here on out, it’s young up-and-comers to fill needs and build this team for the future. I’d like to see him back in a Dolphins 99 Jersey again though…

I think
the only way we’ll see him in a Dolphins jersey again, is when he retires and the Dolphins let him retire as a Dolphin. I think that ship has sailed. His contract would be low and incentive laden, and its doubtful he would be on the field every play. I dunno though, its the NFL, crazy stuff happens

Your probably right
because I think Parcells/Ireland would rather have a rookie or Julius Peppers (fingers crossed) working in with Roth at the SOLB spot than JT. Not because of JT’s ability, but because of age and the fact that him getting reps doesn’t help us years down the road.

JT and the Tuna
I would love for them too bring him back… I also heard that on Espn 1st take today about him maybe coming back here any playing next year.. it would be cool too see him back here with is 99 Jersey…. but with the Tuna here like Neo said I don’t think that they will bring him back.I would love too see them bring in Julius Peppers next year but… something tells me they want too bring young guy’s in from the Draft.

EFFFF JT!!
I WILL HATE TO SEE HIM HERE!
I already gave(for free) my New JT’s jersies. I hate his guts. He better by a HUGE HDTV and see us in the playoff. He is a prick and the way he dish us is unfogivable. Efff him, He does not have the mental thoughtness require here, that is why he bail on us. MF!!

I don't hate him at all
I’m not going to forget about all those years of kick ass play for the Dolphins because of one off-season of b.s.

I absolutely love JT and would love to see him back
Hes a class act, and can any one blame him wanting to win. He just left and now the team he left is winning and not the Redskins. JT and Joey Porter on the same defense under this coaching staff would find ways to move both of them around to cause havoic. I would definitely support him coming back just do not think the front office will make that happen.

agree with you 100%
JT and Zach Thomas threw in the towel after a bad season. This team DOES NOT NEED THAT ATTITUDE.
Jason Taylor can go have fun balroom dancing rather than practicing with his team.

exactly
Zach was released, he never asked to leave, all he said was ‘if you guys don’t want me, at least release me so I can choose where I go next.’
Don’t be so shortsighted that you forget all the great things Zach and JT did for this franchise.

one of the most sour moments for me as a Dolphin fan was how low key
Zach mans departure was. He did TONS for this team!!! And it was just a small footnote when he left……….that sucked!!! Well said Finsx with your quote and where Z.T. said he wouldn’t go. And nice job backing up this GREAT DOLPHIN PLAYER!!

just strange that because an
athlete, who doesn’t know how the train wreck is going to be unfolded, regarding the Dolphins, does the best for himself and his family at the time and at the point of his career is more ostracized than someone who quits or fails their team because of drugs/league violations etc. These to me are the same kind of fans that if Pennington (knock on wood this doesn’t happen) would leave would be the first ones that yell “He sucks!”

I think most of us are in agreement on two points
In our hearts, we’d love to see JT back in a Dolphins uniform.
In our heads, we can’t imagine Parcells bringing in old vets instead of younger guys. He knows that he doesn’t want to make us a flash in the pan, that we need to build for a future of domination, and bringing in guys like JT, who may only have a couple years left, isn’t smart management. Drafting a player to rotate in with Roth, and developing that player into a stud is the way to go.

Better question.. does anybody think JT belongs on the ROH? I don’t think he deserves his number retired, considering we’ve only retired 3 in the franchises history, but what about going up on the Ring?

May I make a point here?
Everyone wants to hate on Taylor for this and that when he was on his way out but that one page ad was very classy.
No one has ever done that out here
JT was a superstar, but not an icon.
Griese and Czonka icons but not God
Marino=God
Well a little overboard there but I just wanted to say something that could be in a movie trailer

Emphatic NO

by DolfinPhan on Dec 18, 2008 3:38 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I say YES
As long as it is an incentive-laden injury escape-clause (no signing bonus) contract.
I could envision him alternating with a slimmed down Matt Roth at SOLB, Roth plays on running downs, JT plays on passing downs. He would be excellent in a four man nickel defense line rushing off of the edge. Any OLB/DE we draft will be raw and need seasoning. If we take him back, it affords the luxury of spending a lower round pick on a DE/OLB project and buys time to develop him. Look at Charlie Anderson. JT could probably mentor Roth and the newbie.
I definately think there is a difference between a prideful veteran with a big contract and a lot of expectations in the locker room and that same humbled vet with a minimum contract entering a locker room fully behind Sparano and trying to earn back the respect of his peers. Look at Ricky Williams. Not exactly the same situation, but similar. Pasqualoni might be able to revive his career as a situational pass rushing end a la Greg Ellis in Dallas.
If Zach doesn’t retire after this year, what do you think are the odds that he ends up with his bro-in-law in Dallas?
by DolphDallas on Dec 18, 2008 4:23 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
I agree...the heart says yes but the head says no
I loved having JT here for the years he was a Dolphin and he did a lot for this team..it was hard to see him go but it had to be…and in hind sight it appears it was a great move. For a minimum contract and limited playing time, I’d take him but but there is just no way it would happen based on Parcells being here and how he left last year.. I just can’t see any circumstance that would see that happen. I wouldn’t mind it…I don’t see it having much of an impact if it did…probably wouldn’t have anything to lose so I don’t see why not…but it just wouldn’t happen..

Meh...
I think his age finally got to him on the Redskins and I severely doubt the Redskins would release him for the price they paid. Only if they were in severe cap trouble. He would be better off just signing a one day contract to retire a Dolphin.

Newbies
I say No, eventhough he was great on some not so great Dolphin teams. I’ll leave it up to the trifecta to draft D players all day on draft day. I’m happy with the offensive players, just the O line needs some more experience which they will get. A stud receiver wouldn’t hurt the situation though.
by Phintastic on Dec 19, 2008 2:54 AM EST reply actions 0 recs
Need or best player on the board
With that being said, would you draft the best player on the board or for your needs? I can only see you drafting best player on the board in the top 10 picks after that, i say draft for your needs…..
by Phintastic on Dec 19, 2008 2:56 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
I think it's a combination
you have to grade each player, and grade each need for importance. When your pick comes up, if you have a high rated player at your biggest need, you take him. If your highest rated player is at a position you don’t need, you move on to another guy.

Karma Can be a Real Bitch...
…and unfortunately JT is finding that out firsthand this year.
Sure, for the right price I’d love to see him finish his career as a Dolphin. However, reality tells me that Bill Parcells isn’t the type who cares about the touchy-feely side of this situation. My guess is that JT doesn’t have a shot in hell to come back to the Dolphins under this regime.

I ask you, would you rather have JT back for a year? Or Peppers in that same position for 8-10 years?
