Read all about how Chad Pennington has helped both Chad Henne and John Beck.

Great stuff! And another reason why CP10 = MVP

Very enjoyable read.

Did anyone else laugh at Henning’s pause indicated by the “…” here:

You can’t miss this if you’re Chad Henne. … Or if you’re John Beck."

I couldn’t help but chuckle…

That is fantastic.

More reasons to love Chad.

John Beck

I hope he becomes a good QB. Mormons are good people.

Great teacher and mentor

to BOTH young QBs. And, maybe, just maybe, this team wil keep BOTH young QBs and let them BOTH develop under CP10. Why give up on someone before you know what they have? It’s like throwing away a lottery ticket just because you don’t want to weait to see what the numbers are.

Agreed.

I’m always quick to crack jokes about Beck, but I do really like the kid. He seems to say and do all the right things, here’s to hoping he succeeds, whether with us or in different colors.

Seconded

Beck has all of the tools and pre NFL history that Henne has in terms of ability, the only real difference is height (from what I’ve heard).
Therefore we should have two potential NFL quarterbacks beyond Chad the Elder and I’m hoping that the competition next camp will drive both of them forward.
I also think that Beck’s progress in camp this year was hampered by changing his throwing style so he was practicing that as well as learning the new system and trying to forget last years mistakes.
Lets give them both a chance, one bad season on a bad team does not a bad QB make….

Well said.

Although I think one other thing Henne has over Beck is an absolute cannon of an arm.

Beck seems to be the more studious, though. Either way, I think the competition is mutually beneficial, especially given the camaraderie Papa Chad has apparently instilled in the group.

by rococo davenport on Dec 18, 2008 8:09 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Not true

According to people talking about the combine stats compared over the two years, Beck threw slightly further than Henne and they were comparable on most stats.
But again both were also in the top group of their respective years.
If Beck finally gets over his first year problems then it should be a good contest.

I most certainly was not aware of that. Hell, sounds good to me……

Actually...

I am encouraged to hear that Henne is so involved in the learning process coming into the 15th game of his first NFL season on the sidelines. He must be uber-aware of the Ryan/Flacco rookie QB media mania. To me it indicates that he, like so many on this team, are well prepared and ready to serve!

This are great news!!

Hopefully, both QB kids will be able to adapt and lead went call upon. I trust the development team on this young QB’s. We are good to go and next year we don’t have to worry on drafting a QB, just CB’s, OLB’s, NT, OL’s, DL’s and maybe a WR.

Times they are a changing!

One year on and everything is changing…
Somebody at the website really made a mess of that.
I’d have thought that everything from the 2007/08 season would be wiped from records, just leave a gap with a note on it saying, skip this it gets better from now on..

Has a Poll for MVP on the home page. CP10 is currently # 3 behind “None of these” and A. Petersen. Head over and vote, he deserves at least the recognition.

Great read

I think Penningtons mark on all young players is going to benefit us for years to come. I was also watching a video at miamidolphins.com in Sparanos “day after game” interview (12/15, you’ll have to open Aquavision and do some scrolling down to find it now) and Sparano said he actually thanked Pennington for all his hard work. I guess Pennington meets with his O-line, and the wide recievers in their own meetings as well. Just a fantastic team mate, we are really lucky to have him.

If Henne and Beck can just be sponges

and learn everything they can from Pennington, they’ll both be better for it. I honestly believe that with his tools and CP10’s teaching, Henne will be a good one.

As far as Beck, I was wrong about him before (saying he’d win the starting job this season) and I would LOVE to be wrong about him again (saying he stinks). Because, lets be honest, if he can turn it around and become a reliable backup or even starter caliber, our team will be better for it.

In one of this past week's press conferences Sparano said that he could envision Chad coaching with him on the sidelines one day.

I think that would be awesome. I grow more and more impressed with Pennington every time I hear him speak and break down plays. The guy is a football genius and I want him locked up with our franchise for a long time.

I think

anyone who looks at CP10 stats would see his value……but they would be missing the point….his value to this team is not in stats, but in leadership

Beck and Henne

Are almost the exact same hight its Henne is like a 1/4 inch taller or something but he weighs more. Beck actually has a stronger arm even stronger than Jay Cutlers he has just been running scared and not using it.
