king of drops?
Not even close. He had one dropped pass last year and I think he has 3 official drops this year.
That’s 4 in 30 games.

He's 2 years into his career
time to stop talking about when he was drafted. That’s absolutely meaningless at this point. Consistency will come. Have patience. Year 3 is the big year for WR’s, and he’s only in year 2. The kid has tremendous potential, and he is humble and works hard enough that I find it hard to believe he won’t reach it.

I'm sorry, but he is a bust
look. he still may turn out to be good. he may be a good #1 reciever, but he was drafted 9th overall! he should be Jerry Rice good, Calvin Johnson good, Rany Moss good, and he’s not. he’s afraid to take a damn hit. i see him as a slot reciever next year.
by smirish on Dec 15, 2008 2:57 PM EST reply actions 0 recs
So what?
It obviously wasn’t a good draft pick. We all know that. But you can’t blame Ginn for Camueller’s ineptitude. Bottom line, he’s on our team. I don’t care if he’s considered a bust because he didn’t live up to his draft status, as long as he can contribute, he’s not a bust. Ryan Leaf was a bust. Ted Ginn is a starter. He shouldn’t be Jerry Rice, Calvin Johnson, or Randy Moss good, because he never was that good. He never pretended to be that good. He’s NOT that good. 98% of WR’s in this league are not that good.
Seriously, get off the “he was drafted #9!! he should be amazing!!” kick.. He didn’t belong in the top 10, so stop expecting him to play like he did. Give him til next season and let’s see if he breaks out like so many other WR’s..

So nothing
i agree with you. I dont expect him to play like those players anymore, because its obvious he never will be one of them. I hope he does have a breakout year next year. and you agree with me. he shouldnt have been a top 10 pick, and sharkfins 28 is probably right, he should have been a 2nd rounderr. we need to go out and get a premier WR though.

Agreed on that part
I would LOVE to make a deal for AQ Boldin.

I'd attribute that to the development of Camarillo and Bess.

and Pennington's comfort level with the short, underneath passes
while Ginn’s bread and butter is the Deep Go route. They’re styles don’t mesh.

Hopefully he and Henne are developing a nice relationship at practice.
Because Henne does have the arm to go with Ginn’s routes.

Exactly
this team’s offensive philosophy will dramatically change when Henne eventually takes over. I have a feeling that his first season as a starter will coincide with Ginn’s breakout year, whenever that happens to be. Henne can OVERthrow Mach 19. I do hope they are building a good relationship for the future, because those two may end up being the future of our passing game..

ginn's okay. he is just very raw.
he doesn’t juke well, he doesn’t hit people… these things may never change. but he also doesn’t get separation, and i attribute THAT to route running and general WR savvy, both of which can improve with proper coaching and experience.
don’t forget he has only been playing this position a couple of years, and he came out as a Jr., so he is still very new to all this.

Found this commentary on Ginn.
I think it sums up his play nicely.
“WR Ted Ginn Jr. – He’s drawing plenty of defenders, opening up the field for everyone else, but Ginn isn’t make the most of the opportunities he’s being presented during games. For the third straight game he dropped a key pass that stalled a drive. Ginn also failed to turn a short drag route upfield on a third-down catch late in the game, which stalled another drive. His kickoff returns are also fizzling because he’s spending too much time setting up blocks that aren’t there. An elite returner of his caliber should be averaging more than 20.5 yards per return, which is what he’s produced on 32 opportunities this season. Not all of that can be blamed on poor blocking. Over the past two games Ginn has contributed three catches for 24 yards. Ginn’s got 50 catches this season, and is well on his way to leading the Dolphins in receptions. But is he really a No. 1 receiver?”

WHAT THE!?? "He should be a Jerry Rice or Randy Moss, etc BECAUSE HE WAS DRAFTED 9th"!!??
can i get some of that stuff you’re smoking!! it must be DAMN GOOD….because that is one of the most whacked out assessments I’ve ever heard!
I guess EVERY SINGLE first rounder in the draft is a SUPERSTAR and that’s “just the way it is”.. i sure wish my dream world worked like that! LOL
sorry..just had to vent a little about this..because it’s just damn ridiculous..
btw..yeah, I wish it was a perfect world and he was a “Jerry Rice” simply because he was drafted so high..and that he was a star guy who got 10 catches a game for 100+ yards and 1+ TD’s…but he is in his second year…and coming around.. it takes time…ESPECIALLY at the WR SPOT.. give him time and don’t put such lofty expectations on him…

if you top 10 pick
i didnt say he should be a jerry rice or randy moss, etc.. BECAUSE he was drafted 9th. Im saying if he’s not one of them, we shouldn’t have drafted him 9th. if your top 10 pick doesnt turn out to be a star or in your ring of honor, then he was a bust. yes it does happen all the time. every year, every draft. half the top 10 picks turn out to be busts. look at Ghoston this year. However, i guarantee though that somebody in that first round will end up in the hall of fame and we should have used our top 10 pick on him instead. patrick willis? dwayne bowe? amobe okoye?

but that doesn't matter anymore
because we didn’t. The guys that screwed that up are fired. It’s water under the bridge. We should’ve used alot of our draft picks on other guys. But we can’t change it now, so bitching about Ted Ginn dropping passes and saying we should’ve drafted someone else is a stupid argument.

You act like there is a Randy Moss and Jerry Rice is every draft
They are the 2 best WR’s to ever play the game………….
by cbdolphin on Dec 15, 2008 11:54 PM EST up reply actions 0 recs
no i dont act like that
obviously there is not a randy moss or jerry rice in every draft. thats why you dont take Ginn at 9. look all i am saying is that if you have a top 10 pick, that player you pick should be a franchise player, go to multiple pro bowls, etc… how can anyone disagree with that? If you think its okay for your top 10 pick to be an average player, maybe you should become a jets fan or work for Cam Cameron. that is why they are top 10 picks. they are the 10 best college players/pro prospects out of thousands.
by smirish on Dec 16, 2008 11:05 AM EST up reply actions 0 recs
Here's what you're not understanding
We can’t change when he was drafted. It’s over. Bitching about WHEN he was drafted won’t do a damn thing. If you pick somebody in the top 10, you’re right, he should be a stud. But Cammy fxxkep it up, so it’s not gonna happen. What you need to get is that if Ginn can be a starter and contributer, than we’ll be happy. Nobody expects him to be franchise player because he’s just not. Regardless of where he was drafted.
OK, so we shouldn’t have taken Ginn at 9. Too late. We did. Let it go, and hope that he develops into a solid starter ala Santonio Holmes.
