Carpenter Nails Another One & 3 Dolphins Get Most Votes for the Pro Bowl

Our undrafted kicker received another award this week getting the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.  He hit his first 3 attempts and tied the NFL Rookie record of 14 before his missed his last attempt against the Bills.  It is the firm belief of this writer that he would have made that field goal if he had his normal balance.  But, do to a stupid squib kick which resulted in a Sparano ass-chewing, I think he was just a little off-balance, thus resulting in the miss.

Also, 3 Dolphins get most votes for the Pro Bowl.  How cool is this?  Joey Porter, Jake Long,  and another nail for our kicker, Dan Carpenter.  I just want to say, I'm sure this was a fair vote, and that no one took the daily time and effort to stuff any boxes at a certain NFL website.   This is only 1/3rd the voting process, so lets all cross our fingers and get some of our boys sent to Hawaii this year.  Comment away if you wish, this is just a HuskerDolphin heads-up post.

GO DOLPHINS!

[Editor's Note by Matty I] I just wanted to include some of the actual numbers for the fan voting results of the Pro Bowl.  Ronnie Brown came in 2nd at RB, losing to Chris Johnson by 53,000 votes but beating out 3rd place vote-getter LaDainian Tomlinson by 53,000.  Jake Long won the vote by about 7,000 votes.  Joey Porter beat out James Harrison by about 46,000 cotes.  Dan Carpenter was about 26,000 votes ahead of 2nd place.  Yeremiah Bell and Patrick Cobbs also eached finished in the top 5 at their respective positions.  Bell was 4th at strong safety and Cobbs was 3rd as a "special teamer."

The Pro Bowl teams will be announced on Tuesday around 4 pm eastern.

They should wait to the end of the season

I hate that the Pro Bowl is selected before the end of the season. Anything can happen with three weeks left, I know the likely hood of some one leading in votes 3/4 through the season falling off or vice versa. But I just wish they would wait.

Don't worry

It’s only the “popular” vote.

A lot of the guys that are being voted for are fan favorites with no merit what so ever. What really matters is the electoral votes – players, coaches, and other NFL reps. They have the most influence on who goes and who doesn’t.

I find it ridiculous that Ronnie Brown and Chris Johnson are ahead of Thomas Jones who is having statistically a better season.

fyi

its just players and coaches that vote now. Offensive players vote for Defensive players and vice versa and then the Coaches vote.

correct me if i'm wrong but Carpenter BROKE the ROOKIE record LAST WEEK!

I heard ALL week that Carpenter broke the consecutive FG record for a rookie last week when he hit his 11th…and the next three were just ADD-ONS to the record… is that not the case?
