Seriously...
What the hell is wrong with Ernest Wilford? I know this is discussed much on this site, but what the hell happened to him? He was decent in Jacksonville. I remember hearing good reports about him in the first two weeks of training camp. We could really use a tall, reliable redzone threat. If Wilford was half the player we paid for, we would be 5-3 cause we would have beaten the Jets in week one on the final play. I know our receivers are playing decent, but tall receivers are extremely valuable in this league. Hopefully London will develop soon.

it baffles me
i mean didnt he have 53 or so catches last year in Jack? is he just dim witted and cant learn the offense? all the stories ive read say he’s been working hard. maybe he has a undisclosed injury, by why would they hide that?
maybe this regime is trying to tear him down, so they can build him back up?
i was really happy with his signing.

it is (was) a bit strange...
I’ve asked myself the same question all season long…why has Wilford not been given a chance? when will he play? will he play at all? There’s no really true clear-cut answer from what people have supposedly found out and it’s a bit puzzling.. There is definitely a few possibilities and a few ways of looking at it.
Firstly, didn’t he get either a 4 or 6 million signing bonus? and a fairly nice contract.. that’s a lot of money sitting on the bench (and trust me, this is definitely why when he is interviewed, he is so positive, not bothered, and all around ok with the situation – from the few interviews I’ve seen)…because this guy is getting paid regardless and has a lot of cash to show for simply “practicing”!
Our receiving core is definitely a bunch of non-stars and appeared to be the shining weakness when the season opened. With his experience and decent numbers in the past, I figured he’d definitely be the #2 or #3 guy and get a decent number of balls sent his way on a weekly basis.. One sports writer stated “the Miami Dolphins are using the receiver by committee method right now”.. I think that’s pretty bang on. Every week, it’s a different guy stepping up. Why can’t Wilford be one of them?
Is he really that far behind in his skillset? Bad practices? Can’t get on the same page as Chad?
Or is it simply just Sparano not wanting to tinker with what’s working? Not split up or change the group that is coming together? I know in the past, he has stated “it’s a numbers game”..with who to dress and not to, based on players that also play on special teams,etc.. that’s certainly one side of it.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.. hmmm…who knows..who do you take out? some puzzling questions.. regardless, I really would like (or would have liked) to find out what this guy was capable of on our team and in the system but I think it’s too late in the year for anything to come of it..
You would have thought that he would at least got dressed for most if not all of the games and get into at least half a dozen plays..but that’s definitely not the case and with the way things look and are going…ONLY an INJURY will allow him to see ANY action at all with Miami this season and lets hope that doesn’t happen.
All the best to you Ernest because I doubt you’ll even see another snap with the Dolphins.

I guess there was a reason
Jacksonville didnt resign him,,,,,,,

maybe Wilford just doesn’t have the heart
"The odds are always against you no matter what your previous history is. You have to overcome the tendency to relax."- Tom Osborne
Well maybe we should give him a chance. i read in an article when we first signed him that when he was in Jax he was ok during practice but shined in the game. Oddly enough some players are like that. Look at Brady Quinn, they reported that he even says that he doesn’t do too hot during practice but he played one hell of a game. And lets also take into consideration that he’s been in the NFL for a descent stint, and still playing that means he has some skill at the position. I think Tony goes mostly off of what he sees in practice, which I can’t blame him. And also he doesn’t want to tinker too much more with what he’s got. But man having someone that size would defitnly help us in the red zone. Especially the way Chad is playing. I think if ever get a chance to blow some team out (maybe against Seattle) we can throw him in for a drive or two and see how he does.
