Dolphins vs Rams: Prediction Time!
It's again time for our predictions. Above are each team's offensive and defensive rankings. Below are some "expert" picks:
| Chris Mortensen - Dolphins | Jay Novacek - Dolphins |
| Ron Jaworksi - Dolphins | Pete Prisco - Dolphins |
| Tom Jackson - Dolphins | Harmon Forecast - Dolphins |
| Mike Ditka - Dolphins | Michael Silver - Dolphins |
| Peter King - Dolphins | Jason Cole - Dolphins |
I'm always worried when everyone likes the Dolphins in a game. And we've seen 2 times the last 3 weeks that the Dolphins don't usually perform well in games when they are heavily favored. Let's hope that all changes this week in St. Louis.
This week, I would hope that the Dolphins can finally get a solid running game going - out of their base formation. Ronnie Brown could use a big game this week as well.
Defensively, I expect the Dolphins to get after the quarterback. Joey Porter will likely pick up at least another sack, putting him back on top of the league after DeMarcus Ware took the lead from Porter on Thanksgiving.
I'll take the Dolphins, but I don't expect it to be easy. Dolphins win 27-20.
Your predictions below...

31-16 Miami
They are poor little lambs…..who have lost their way…….blaaahhh blaahhh blahhhh
We run huge, get a defensive td, and limit them from doing harm in the red zone, forcing them to settle for 3’s instead of 6’s. Ewe heard it first here.
GO DOLPHINS!

Yup
You’re totally right. The NFL is so fixed, a wild card team beats the only 18-0 team in NFL history, AND that 18-0 team took out a bunch of trademarks to commemorate the perfect season, AND they are the NFL darlings. Makes perfect sense.
Or how about the first game overseas featured 2 teams with the largest international fanbases, except one of them was 0-the year so far and had exactly 1 marketable name. Brilliant strategy by the NFL there.
Oh wait, how about the Cowboys? They have a million pro bowlers, they’re America’s team and they’re the most marketable team in the league right now, so let’s fix a few losses for them so they toil around at the bottom of the division. Man, how come I didn’t see that coming?
I could go on.. but you already know all the storylines, being an avid WWF fan and all..

Ahh, thank you for adding SB XXX to the list
O’Donnel throwing 2, TWO, INT’s directly to….not badly thrown, not tipped…DIRECTLY TO….the Dallas defender.
Yup…makes perfect sense.
Guess you didn’t know they re-sell all that unused merchandise overseas (oh they give a lil away too).
And of course thre was no in the grasp call on Manning on that spectacular play, and no one seems to remember what a big stink that was.
The refs make or break the games folks. It’s right in front of ya.

And I guess you didn’t know they give all that unused merchandise away to poor villages in Africa because they don’t want it turning up in developed areas. Good research though.

No they don't give it all away... only the teams and stadium allocations.
Vendors get to do as they wish with their merchandise, the only stuff that gets donated is the stuff that is allocated to the team/stadium.
Vendors aren’t supposed to, and it’s technically illegal, but it’s like rejected concert T’s that get sold outside concerts. These are also supposed to be destroyed or donated, but …yes indeed..organized crime gets their dirty little hands on that stuff to, and you’ve seen it being sold.
There’s plenty of case law on this , seek and yee shall find.
sigh Can you people read? I told you I will respond to any attacks or comments on this thread. I’m not the guy who pouts and runs away when some Big Shot Message Board Thugs wanna flex their interwebs muscles. You want me to stop? Then shut the hell up about what you don’t know about.

You act like we should be scared of you responding
Don’t act like you know everything, because every single time you post you make yourself look more and more stupid.
The vendors are not selling NFL Licensed merchandise, because it’s not released to the vendors until the game (and the winner) is decided. So anybody who’s selling, say, 19-0 Patriots gear, didn’t get it from the league. And you’re just in love with this organized crime theory. It’s sad, actually. Because you really do believe that all these conspiracies are true.

Oh really?
Stupider than all the fans calling out the refs in the same way? LOL
Look, the game is fixed and it wouldn’t be hard. You let them play the game to a point, and you throw a flag or don’t throw a flag when needed. A player or 2 on each team is a payee as well. Guess you all don’t remember The Black Sox.
All I know is that I first started having suspisions during the 1st Gulf War when both teams in the Sb were…red white and blue.
Then after 9/11, a team called the Patriots wins the SB (against all odds).
Then the year after the Iraq War started…once again…a team called the Patriots win the SB.
Then after Dubbya gets inagurated after the 2004 elections…yup…the Patriots again .
Last year the Patsys got beat by a …red white and blue team!!!!
It won’t surprise me to see …the Patriots.. win the SB , because of the refs and the flag waving mania in this country.
I certainly don’t expect this post to stand, because even tho I’m STILL talking football, and it’s prediction related,…well things like this just make people wanna turn the other way.
If you get this far and are one of the ones thinking “Oh they could never get away with it…nobody can keep secrets like that.”; Remember the Mafia. They exist, and even tho some snitch, they are VERY powerful and….hey , they control VEGAS. Anyone who knows anything about WWII knows that the Mafia is very tight with the Guv.
So yes Virginia, the NFL is fixed, and people can keep secrets, because there’s a WHOLE LOT of organized crime going on, and a WHOLE LOT of people not getting caught; thus a WHOLE LOT of people not saying anything.
The post will disappear and I’ll prob get banned now. Like I care, but it just amuses me that people think they are so immune from corruption.
Peace
PS: Am I allowed to say I hope someone on the Steelers tears Matt Light’s head off? lol…that would be football talk too :P.

Holy cow
The “Black Sox” scandel was in 1919. 89 years ago. When player’s could make more money from gamblers than they could from their playing contracts. And it was impossibly to monitor that kind of activity. I really can’t believe you would compare the NFL today to a fixed World Series almost 100 years ago.
Now the Mafia is fixing games? Are you kidding me? Do you even realize how ridiculous you sound?
You should be careful though. The Government runs these blogs, and if they figure out that you’re on to them, they’ll have the mafia make you disappear before you can spread the word…
Unbelievable.

Once again we see you are very well versed at calling names and saying I know nothing, but offer no counter point.
I’m just replying to personal attacks, if that’s poisoning the blog, it’s your own fault. I don’t take that crap.
And insinuating you have ties to NY Mob , and asserting they have no ties to fixing games proves you’re just another big talking internet uneducated liar. I’ve been mentioning this book that CLEARLY proves, by those involved own admission, wiretaps and cooberative game film, that the Mob is virtually THE reason the NFL became so huge.
Here, made it easier now: The FULL TITLE OF THE BOOK, AND IT’S AUTHOR, AND SOME SMALL REVIEWS:
Interference: How Organized Crime Influences Professional Football , by Dan E Moldea.
Some blurbs from the cover:
“The best book on the NFL’s connection to the mob and the American gambling scene was Dan Moldea’s groundbreaking Interference. Moldea tore apart the league’s papier-mache image and illustrated that, without gamblers, it would have remained on the sandlots.” — John L. Smith, Las Vegas Review-Journal
“Moldea has written perhaps the most important sports book in the history of the language.” — Keith Olbermann, ESPN SportsCenter.

I never said I have ties with the mob
who’s the one with the reading comprehension problem now? I’m very happy for you that you found a book about the mob and the NFL. But I gave you 3 quick examples from just the past 2 seasons of things that would’ve been fixed, and you responded with a game from the early 90’s stating that Neil O’Donnell intentionally threw interceptions. That makes sense. He stunk. He didn’t have to TRY and throw picks, he did it anyway.
If you want to talk conspiracies and game fixing, this really isn’t the place.

Well thank you for not banning me
I sure would like to know why people keep saying it’s idiotic or ridiculous, yet provide no substative retort. It’s like kids in a playgorund. WHY is it idiotic?
Has anyone ever read the book ‘Interference’ for instance? You should.
I told you, I’ve STUDIED this, not just read some blogs and joined a bandwagon. There’s been strange stuff happening for a long time, and there’s interviews and game films to prove it.
I been a fan since 1970, it’s hard not to stay one. What I won’t do is buy anymore NFL merchandice, and will not renew Sunday Ticket. I’ll go contribute to the local economy at a sports bar. I’ll not put any money directly into the NFL’s pockets.
This whole thing has actually inspired me to finish a three part short story on the subject. I’ve already got a buyer based on the first part, but I got too angry to finish. Maybe now that I’m convinced and lightened up about the game, I can finish it. I’ll let ya’ll know (you’ve heard of the mag) if it gets a done deal. I hadda give back my advance because I didn’t finish it in time for the season, but I’ll see what I can do. I still own the C.
Hey it’s fun to root, and I still believe there’s a lot of players really believing and playing their hearts out. But the deck is stacked.
I guess wether I stay or not , and again thanx for letting the posts stand and not banning me, is how I get treated if I comment on the games. We’ll see if respect for ones freedom of speech works on here. It is a great board, no doubt. I’ll try and refrain from anything as exsesive as this exchange, but I wonder if I’ll get dumped on if I say “Nice play”, when I’ve CLEARLY indicated that I don’t think , nor can there be, everyone in on it.
Ya’ll really should give ‘Interference’ a try. Can’t recall the authors name.
Peace. Go Phins!

I picked against Miami once………Holds up index finger ……once.
I’m taking the Fins in a close one 21-20….because Miami is smart and will sustain long methodical drives and play field position and do all the things that they are capable of to win this game.
They will also go home with the Rams cheerleaders. Just to add insult to injury.

So, every time we think we have a sure thing
The fins make it a squeaker. If they don’t get to “scrambled eggs” and rattle him a bit, we could have problems in out secondary. Donnie avery caught like 9 passes in a game that the Lambs only scored 3 points, so we need to bring pressure. Also Jackson looks to be back.
I say that this is the game for the Fins to re-establish their power running game and clock management. I’m gonna say Fins win 20-10.

Mr. Irrelevent to start for Rams
The Rams must be desperate at the LB position if they are starting a 7th round compensatory, very last, pick of the draft.

Our best game yet..
Call me crazy..but I think we are going to have our best game yet……I think we will win convincingly and get 170 + yards on the ground. Look for Cobbs to get some touches..thru the air and on the ground.

I have a bad feeling...
…maybe it’s just the years of bad feelings piling up and I’m still not used to having a winning team to follow. Maybe it’s because I live in St. Louis and I’m stuck reading about the Rams every day with my morning oatmeal. Still, Pace says he’s going to play. Jackson says he’s going to play. Bulger says he’s good to go. They’ve got Mr. Irrelevant at LB. Today, Haslett said that nobody’s job is safe anymore and as far as he’s concerned everybody is auditioning for a spot on next year’s team. He also said he’ll keep going deeper into the bench to get the best 11 out there. This is starting to sound like a trap game to me. My brain says the Dolphins should win easily. However, that little voice inside my gut (gas?), my sixth sense….my Dolphin sonar, if you will, tells me this could be a tough game. Of course, I want the Dolphins to prevail, but I’m afraid I’m going to predict:
Rams 31 Dolphins 17
Regardless, I’ll be there, with the wife and kids, everyone decked out in aqua and orange, singing “Miami has the Dolphins, The greatest football team; And if you don’t believe me, I’ll kick you in the spleen.”
Go Dolphins.
P.S. I hope I’m wrong. Remember, I predicted Joey Porter to score an offensive TD against the Pats. I also predicted DC$ to kick six FG against the Broncos. Another week, I also predicted Wilford to score a TD. So I kind of suck at this.
If I had a tagline, this would be it.

Wildcat Formation
I see some things wrong with the Wildcat Formation. They have pretty much used it all year, right? Well, things need to change. They need to make some new plays for their Wildcat Formation. I think instead of using Ronnie Brown as “quarterback” we should use Greg Camarillo. I mean look at his story. Signed to training camp squad. Never thought he would make the team. Once he made the team, thought he would be third-string material. Starter material all the way! I think they really should try something different. Nobody is surprised anymore when they see the Dolphins in Wildcat Formation. But that is with Ronnie Brown or Ricky Williams. But it it truly time for something different! Go D-Fins!
