What are you Thankful for?

Ya know, I was at work the other day and was talking with a friend. He said it was no suprise to him that we lost to the Pats because we barely won against  2 win teams the previous weeks before. In which I replied that after winning one game last year, I'm just thankful we're winning at all.

In which I got to thinking about Thanksgiving and what has happened over the past year. I have ALOT to be thankful for.

I have my health. I have a job. I have gotten married to a wonderful woman and my first born boy on the way, due the day before my birthday.  He will be coming home in a Miami Dolphin's receiving blanket (I got permission).

But lets get down to the Dolphins. I'm so thankful for the resurgence of my beloved Miami Dolphins. It hurt when the Fins lost this past weekend, suprisingly though, not as much as I thought it would. We're suppose to be rebuilding here, not blowing the Pats out in NE and giving them all they could handle for 3 qtrs last Sunday. Not to mention contending for playoff spot. A playoff spot?! Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs?!

We won 1 game last year. Just one. Before last Sunday, we didn't lose for a month. I got a full month of Miami Dolphins wins, when it mattered mind you.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm thankful (somewhat) for, gulp...give me a second..... /sigh.....Cam Cam. Yea I typed it. If it wasn't for Cameron REALLY stinking it up the way he did, Wayne wouldn't have gotten "The Tuna" in here to do what had been necessary for years now. A total tear down, trade off and rebuilt team. Top to bottom. I'm thankful for our players that just wouldn't quit last year. I'm thankful for our teams this year, next year and so on.

Say whay ya will about Mr. Huizenga. He did what he thought was best for the his team. Even though he wasn't always right, he gave us Finfans a hellava going away present didn't he? He finally got it right it seems.

I'm thankful for Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland, and Tony Sparano. God bless em and their work. I really can't put into words what they have done for me sports wise. To see my Dolphins competitive again in a rebuilding year no less. To think how good we could become with them. I know Parcells won't stay long, but I think he'll be leaving our Miami Dolphins in good hands when he does leave.

I'm thankful for this site and you guys. Matty, your doing a great job. God bless you and keep up the good work dude. And for the rest you guys. God bless ya too. You don't always agree with me, but hey, you can't be right all the time.

Happy Thanksgiving and go Dolphins!

Great job Neo

congrats on the marriage and new baby.

Im thankfull for 1 simple thing….a REAL football season. its been years since i felt like football mattered…just the chance of the playoffs is a blessing

to me the worst we can do is .500 this season…that AMAZING. if you win 7 more games than last season then your headed in the right direction.

I'm thankful for alot....

Health and happiness leads the list. I could go on about my personal reasons other than my Dolphin thankfulness. But, lets talk Fins. I’m thankful for a career choice that now allows my wife and I to travel the country as a couple of traveling therapist. 2 years ago we left Ohio headed to Houston for the summer then ended up in Tampa for football season. 4 hour drive back to clearwater after each game we attended last season. 1-15 and I am still thankful I could do it. Now this year, we summered in Seattle and drove across the country for another season. And look how it is turning out!!! I am thankful, very thankful. We are in enjoying every minute of it. I am thankful when I get to watch my wife jump for joy as she signs our fight song after every score!!! It moves me, I have a beautiful wife that brings me joy, now her love for the Fins is growing…..another thankful moment. I am thankful for one more home…..LETS CELEBRATE!!!!!

i never ever thought i would hear you say you are thankful for cam.

i almost passed out when i read it.

Anyway, congrats my friend, and nice job on the post. As much as we love our Fins, it is after all, just a game. I started visiting an orphanage in Mexico once a month and am taking a bunch of stuff down there next week for Christmas. Those kids have very little, and yet they are happy and loving. We get upset about the economy and mortage rates, but the poorest among us in this country is many times better off than millions of people around the world. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to help others.
Peace.

Congrats on all counts Neo, you are a class act

that goes for all of you guys around here, seriously, i’m just thankful to have ppl to discuss dolphins football with… or even discussing ‘absolutely nothing’ w/ a bunch of fellow finfans….someone noted the other day that sometimes we don’t even talk about football at times, but i think that says alot about how tight knit this group of ppl have become….i’ve looked over the other sites, and i don’t see anything going on like it does here, not to mention 3 live game threads last sunday??? makes me proud to be a fan of the best football team in NFL history….The Miami Dolphins! you guys rock!

First off....

….I am thankful for my health, friends and family that love me (at least that’s what they tell me), the opportunity to go to college and continue my education, and knowing that i won’t be going hungry anytime soon.
I am also thankful for the way the Fins have been playing this season….some of you mentioned it already. This was supposed to be a “rebuilding” year….We are 6-5, wtf??? who would have ever thought that? beating NE in Foxboro by 25?? A real chance to make the playoffs. Rebuilding year or not, this has been an incredible season and i am thankful to be a huge fan of the greatest football franchise in the history of football for about 18 yrs (yes, that would be my whole life). I can go on and on about what i am thankful about this team, but i’ll leave it at that.

Happy Thanksgiving and Go Dolphins!!!

Thank you. I appreciate what you are doing.

I know how tough it is. I was in Beirut over the holidays in ’83. I grabbed a radio jeep and drove it around to different posts and made MARS calls home for guys. I still sucked not being with family.

I also say

that if you served in combat you should not have to pay taxes for 1 year for every month you spent in a combat zone. Purple hearts get you 3 years for every month in theater and any medals for valor get you free beer and no taxes for the rest of your life!

And if you can prove you were a Dolphan before you went to combat you should have box seats for every home game!

God Bless! Great post Neo and even better attitude!

That’s the spirit! What are we thankful for…and in this case; what are we thankful for in regards to this team and even this community we are a part of. I have so much outside of this to be thankful for but I’ll keep it to this topic.

We (Dolphins fans) have so much to be thankful for this year and saying anything contrary would be blasphemous to “Dolphins Nation”. I hate using that term because it’s so overused these days, but what the heck.
Coming from where we were last year is incredible and for some, it was a true test of faith. Probably the worst part of it was that it didn’t look like there was a lot of hope or opportunity for this team to get much better moving forward…but that ALL changed with the departure of Cammy and the signing of THE TUNA!

I never thought I’d say that but I am thankful for Bill Parcels and what he has done (in a VERY short period of time) to turn this organization around and bring in a whole new attitude, philosophy and direction to this team!
From him all the way down has seen a rather significant change in personnel and structure and even though some of the player moves were hard to see leave (Taylor, Thomas), it was all for the best and has immediately turned the tides for this team.
And for this to be done in one season is remarkable and I am very greatful to be a part of this incredible season that sees us at 6-5, in the playoff hunt, in the division, very competitive and more importantly, a team that deserves respect!

I’m also thankful for the departure of Brett faRVe from the Green Bay Packers, paving the way for Chad Pennington to come to Miami. Many weren’t so high on this selection but with what we had to work with going into this season…this was a godsend! If you can pinpoint one single player who likely is responsible for this turn around it would have to be Chad and I’m so greatful for his acquisition and his leadership and ability to instantly help make this offense a contender with limited receiving resources.

I’m greatful for Tony Sparano and the whole coaching staff on up to Jeff Ireland. Coach Sparano has made an huge impact in implementing a winning attitude, accountibility and pride, with a coaching style that I feel most fans and players enjoy. I sure know I do and think he’ll be around for a while.

I’m greatful for all of players on the team that are playing their hearts out and doing their best to move this team forward. There are a lot of players on this team that aren’t considered “stars” by any means but have been playing very well and putting up good numbers and contributing to the cause. We’ve had a lot of unproven and young players step up from week to week and that’s made this season thus far, rather exciting. Ginn, Camarillo, Cobbs, Bell, Porter, Roth, W.Allen, Holliday, Long, Fasano, Martin and of course Ricky and Ronnie.. All of these and a few more have done a lot with what many would consider “very little”. For this, I am greatful.

I’m certainly greatful for the season as a whole and how this turn around has played out. Being 6-4 (last week), having a four game winning streak, beating the Bills and Patriots plus a few others. Being very competitve week in and week out (aside from maybe the Arizona game) and being in the thick of things in the division and in the playoff race! Who couldn’t be ecstatic about that with where we were last year and what was expected this year.

As I’m sure most of you know, there really is a lot to be thankful and greatful for with this team this season….regardless of the fact that we didn’t sweep the Patriots and that in turn set us back in our quest for the playoffs. We have so much to hold our heads up high about and no matter what happens from here to the end of the season, I will be very happy and proud of what this team has accomplished and more importantly have a ton of hope and anticipation for next year (and the off season).

And I have to give a quick shout out to this site/community because it’s a great place for Phins fans to talk and brainstorm about this team. I’m glad I found this place and think this is the best Dolphins blog site on the net. There’s a lot of good people here with deep passions and dedication for this team. A lot of great posts and insight and all around, fun…thank you all (most of you anyways) for this.

Anyways, it’s not done yet and until it is and until we’re officially out of the picture, I’m speaking the future as I want to see it and will speak that the Dolphins will make the playoffs. I’ll still be realistic about everything but there’s always hope and we should hold onto it and regardless of what may happen, we should savour every moment of it!

Go Phins!
