PrintThat's right. November 19 is The Phinsider's birthday. And today, the site turns 2 years old.
Back on November 19, 2006 - this site's first day - the Dolphins knocked off the Vikings 24-20, which was their 3rd win in a row. They followed that up by knocking off the Lions on Thanksgiving. Ironically, that was this team's last 4 game win streak - prior to their current one.
Some other notes from the last 2 years:
- The Dolphins are 10-23 since the launching of this site
- Ronnie Brown leads the Dolphins with 14 touchdowns since the site launched
- Marty Booker leads the Dolphins with 5 receiving touchdowns since the site launched
- Joey Porter leads the Dolphins in sacks since the site launched, with 19
- Jason Allen leads the team in interceptions since the site launched, with 4
- The Dolphins have had 5 different quarterbacks start a game since the site launched
- In 2 years, this site has just under 2.5 million hits
- There are currently over 800 registered users of this site
- The site's record for hits in a day is 20,558 - set on February 29, 2008
I just want to quickly thank SB Nation for the opportunity - specifically Tyler Blezinski and David Halprin. Those 2 took a chance on me two years ago. I had no blogging experience. I was just a die-hard fan. So I'm grateful for the opportunity they gave me.
I also need to thank all of you out there who make this place as great as it is. It's all about the community here - and there are a number of you who really have made this place what it is today. This site simply wouldn't be as much fun as it is without each of you who are active and participate and who have help sculpt this community.
There are a number of great Dolphin websites out there. And for you guys to choose to spend some time here at this one is greatly appreciated.
So where do we go from here? That's a good question - and one I have no answer to. But as long as the next few years are as fun as the past 2 have been, I'm sure we'll all be happy.
So here's to all of you! Thanks for hanging out here with us! Cheers!

When I first came here.
I thought this was an official type Miami Dolphins organization blog. Matty lives in jersey or new yewk or something (did I get the accent down?) but the info here was spot on and the people were true green and orange fans! I had to be apart of that. spacedolphin on the old boards was I.
Hangin out
Just checkin up on the days news. We had 2 earthquakes here in SoCal yesterday. kinda trippin on that to.
Early
4:30 a.m. a 4.1 woke me up but I heard it coming before it hit. quick shake and it was over.
9:20 something a.m. same type quake centered 20 miles from here. Hemet, california but we are right at the end of the san andreas fault line. crazy.
does like everything in the city just like stop and people take cover or something?

Cake walk
If you live here you just freeze and step away from windows. most are use to it. luckily the biggest I have felt was 6.2 but nothing big has happened like picture falling. There is however an uneasy roar that comes with a quake. oh, and some quakes roll and you feel that up to 2 minutes after. I’m all good until stuff starts falling then I’m going to loose my fudge..

I would completely freak. Probably start crying. I’m not equipped for anything that’s not a hurricane. Snow scares me.

I live in Kentucky
We had a very minor earthquake a few months back.
Woke me up around 4 am in the morning.
Had no idea what is was at first until it dawned on me that the ground was shaking, thus an earthquake. Was pretty exciting considering how rare they are near the middle of the country.

moved down south before I was 1… Went up to Illinios for a semester of college… got caught in a blizzard… never went back. Snow is not for me… give me 100 degree summer days over snow..

Snow is awesome
but I love Florida weather.
I love how it rains almost everyday.
Hot weather doesn’t bother me at all. Cold weather sucks in the morning, but you get use to it by the middle of the day, then it is not to bad. But the cycle starts over again.

Congrats on a bloody brilliant site.
As an aside, the way I found this site was after the Super Bowl I searched for the Reebok perfect season ad with Mercury Morris and it brought me to Big Blue View, the SB Giants site. From there I linked here, and can honestly say I’ve visited about every day since. Don’t change a thing, the layout and tone of this blog are awesome. And the fan-posts the guys do are fantastic. Makes you proud to be a fins fan, although the team are doing a good enough job of that at the moment actually. I regularly visit the other SB sites such as Big Blue View and Stampede Blue and none have the level of activity (to say nothing of wit and good looks, lol) that we do. That’s down to both Matty’s work and the fact that we support the best team. So happy b-day Phinsider, you magnificent bastard.
By the way, call me stupid but what happened on Feb 29th? Why all the hits?

Like I posted on Daniel52’s post its been a great thing having the blog pointed out too me by my younger brother. I’ll repeat, cause its worth repeating….The Phinsider has made the wins more sweet and the losses less painful. Just a thought......
How cool would this be? To have a world map in the margin of the homepage, so when someone signs up, there would be a dot from the place he/she is at. It would be cool to see from how many places Phinsider Nation reaches. The more dots from the same place, maybe a different color for each increment in numbers.

This site is the only bright spot in my day
The camaraderie, the jokes, the homoeroticism, it makes this the best Dolphin community there is.
Matty’s insight & poetic wording even through the darkest of times, is what makes this the best Dolphins BLOG.
I joined during the offseason I believe, and looked forward to a new post everyday. Not much has changed, except now we have a couple “treats”, in ITM and Gameballs, but Matty really is the best blogger on this site. He’s a realist but at the same time personifies what being a Dolfan is all about. So, thank YOU Matty, for all you’re tireless efforts to bring us up to date with all Dolphin related news and that “homerism” that keeps our spirits lifted. And remember, we wouldn’t be here if not for you.
