SI Division Rankings
Don Banks of SI.com recently ranked all 8 divisions in the NFL, and he notes teams on the move both up and down in the division, playoff bound teams, and best player/best rookie awards for each. He ranks the AFC East 2nd, behind the NFC East. He also has 3 teams from our division making the playoffs, with the Dolphins being one of them. Here's the AFC East paragraph.
2. AFC East
No division has turned it around in 2008 like this one, with four winning teams and a combined 22-14 record through 10 weeks. Last year it was the Perfect Patriots and the Three Stooges. All four teams have winning records at home this season, and Buffalo's 2-3 road record is the division's only blemish in that department. Thursday's Jets at Patriots showdown will give someone the inside track on the division title, but I can still see the AFC East advancing three teams into the playoffs. Keep an eye on the surging Dolphins, who have won three in a row and still have games against losers like Oakland, St. Louis, San Francisco and Kansas City.
Team on the move: Miami.
Team on the slide: Buffalo.
Playoff bound team(s): New England, New York, Miami.
Best player: Chad Pennington, Miami, quarterback.
Best rookie: Jerod Mayo, New England, linebacker.
And here's the link to the rest of the column. Don Banks Division Rankings
Nice to see positive things being said about the Dolphins. And I think he's right about us surging up the division. However, there's no looking ahead, we need to take it one game at a time, blah blah coachspeak blah blah. Bottom line, we're in the playoff hunt. Can't ask for much more out of these guys.

Wait til all the Jets fans
read that our boy CP is the best in the AFC east, before their beloved Jet Favre. Its great that our Fins are getting a little respect from the media now.

that’s my favorite part.. The funny thing is, if we were asked who was the BEST player on the Dolphins, the answers would probably be Joey Porter and Ronnie Brown before Chad. But it’s great to see his skills recognized, because I thought he was unfairly dumped out of NY based on stupid arguments over a noodle-arm. (even though I made that argument many times while he was still a Jet). Dude is a good QB, were lucky to have him playing for us and teaching our future Chad.

AFC East- number 2? very nice
Wow..that’s some good props for the division at this point. The best I saw on other sites was third but this definitely makes sense. The records, teams and races say it all.
It’s definitely going to be exciting to see what transpires between now and the final weekend of the season. I really believe that the AFC East could actually send three teams to the playoffs. Not that I think it’s probable or anything like that but certainly a realistic possibility with the way things are shaping up in the conference.
Its still quite surreal sometimes when I think of where we are right now…where we came from a year ago and the possibilities that lay ahead.
As for tonights game.. Jets at N.E. I wish they could both lose but due to the scenarios that exist, I’m going to have to cheer for the PATS…and it’s simple too! :
Pats win over Jets… we take care of Oakland, like we’re supposed to and then beat N.E. next week.. We will be in first in the division and COMPLETELY control our own destiny to win the division because if we won out the rest of the sched..we’d be in first!
