Ronnie Brown got fined for the "Cupid shuffle"?
News just in that Ronnie Brown and the linemen doing the dance after his "wildcat" TD got fined for "planned celebration". Ronnie says they practiced it at the walk-through....but who cares???!!!! This is lame. Lamer than lame....i dont have words for it. Pacman Jones punches his bodyguard in the back of the head while hes takin a leak....and nothing. Ronnie Brown gets fined for 5 sec. of celebrating a touchdown. The NFL wants the teams to think "team 1st"...but when they try to celebrate the fruits of their labor and sacrifice together you fine them what some Americas make in a year.
I didnt get the fine amount when I heard it. Anyone know? Not that it matters really....5 bucks woulda been too much. Goodell is a dictator. Its getting ridiculous. Lets hear everyones thoughts on fining players for celebrating. I think I made mine pretty clear.

I don't like pre-meditated
celebration. It gets out of hand. I can see spiking the ball, acknowledgeing the crowd, something spontaneous, or , like Barry Sanders, just give the ball to the ref and go celebrate with your team on the sidelines. I didn’t think what Ronnie did was preplanned, but maybe it was. Just looked like he was having fun with his lineman.
As far as Pac Man……..someone should tell him to take a walka walka walka walka walka walka

it was def planned
he said so…but cmon husk….let em be adults. if it goes to far fine em…but no need for fining meaningless dances. chad johnson in a hall of fame jacket deserves a fine….not a dance for 2 sec

i can agree with that
whats the magic words though? “when we win we’re humble” right? I just hate that over the top crap that holds the game up and draws attention to one player. It took 10 others for him to get there.

one thing I remember
I’m pretty sure the rule is that when it involves more than one player in the celebration, the NFL is going to frown on it.

Ronnie broke the rules on the football field...
….so he got fined. He deserved to get fined – but, really, it’s only like $7,500 so he’ll be fine.
I’ve never been a big “celebration” guy. Just hand the ball to the ref and move on. But with that said, I got a laugh at Ronnie’s dance with Vernon and Ike. Nice idea.
And for the record, this is totally different than Pacman punching his body guard. If you ask me, Pacman didn’t do anything wrong this time.

what??!!
if….and only if indeed he went up to another man and punched him in the back of the head while he was urinating thats ok with you??!!!
unsaid rule….dont punch a dude while he is taking a leak….thats totally not cool.
maybe he didnt do it….but if he did i dunno how someone is ok with it

first of all...he punched his own body guard...
that’s like me punching a friend of mine…it happens…you get into fights and move on.
secondly….what does Pacman getting into a fight have to do with his job?? If I got in a fight at a bar or restaurant one night, would my employer fine me? or suspend me?

NFL conduct policy
And he should be staying as far away from trouble as he can. I wouldn’t even J walk if I were him

But Pacman didn't do anything wrong...
…so the policy doesn’t apply here. If no chargers are even pressed, then what can happen?
And don’t get me started on the conduct policy…..it’s ridiculous. As long as you do not break the law, your employer shouldn’t have any say about what you do on your own time. Pacman – if no chargers are pressed – technically didn’t break the law. Therefore, he shouldn’t have any punishment handed to him.
But should he be smarter and avoid these situations because of the crap he’s gotten into in the past? Of course.

i'll agree with that
and from the way it sounds. No charges pressed, no suspensions, nothing will happen from the NFL or the Cokeboys.

the conduct policy puts way too much power in the hands of one man
i hate that, these limitless suspensions are rediculous. granted people shouldnt run around like morons, but come on
they need an arbirtrator or something to keep things fair
i take your signatures and use them as away messages

Matty...
its a Cowboys bodyguard….his “babysitter” he calls him…a Cowboys employee.
its the same as Will Allen going up to a trainer and punching him in the face while he takes a poop
same thing with Manny Ramirez this year…he choked a ticket guy when the dude couldnt get him like 1,000 tickets. dunno how they get away with it.
and once ur an adult there is no “friendly punching”….thats assault brotha!
he didnt press charges…cuz Jerry Jones told him shhhhhhhh
just like when michael irvin stabbed a guy in the neck with scissors…jerry jones told the player shut up and gave him a blank check

Matty's right
wow that felt weird to type. But if Ronnie’s getting fined for a little dance and Pacwoman walks after punching someone in the head then the rules are screwed up. I’m mean how can a Buffalo RB run someone over, run away and not get suspended, because he didn’t violate the “conduct” policy….. huh??? Hypocracy

I do agree with Matty in that
The league properly enforced the rules as they are. But as you said the rules themselves set up a double standard and should be changed. At least I think that was your point right?
$ 10,000 each for Ronnie Vernon and Ike – what a joke!

the fine was ridiculous and if it was preplanned then they need to practice more. Because it was horrible. And did anybody notice how much Ronnie was enjoying himself, you could see him smiling almost the whole time.

The rule is too vague
It’s meant to discourage planned celebrations like STL’s Bob and Weave, The Grenade, The Campfire, and just about anything T.O. and Chad Johnson do. I love the celebrations as much as anybody, and most of what CJ does is hilarious (golfing with the pylon was great), but it also goes against what the NFL wants it’s image to be (by NFL, I mean Goodell). They want it to be the ultimate team game, want these guys to be ultimate team players, good role models, and blah blah blah. I think celebrating with your lineman and breaking into an impromptu dance shouldn’t be the problem. Something that reeks of rehearsal and planning, should be cracked down on, at least according to current rules.
I personally think celebrations shouldn’t be penalized, unless they are openly taunting towards the other team. Let the guys have fun. The message they should be sending to kids is that the game is supposed to be fun, and that even though these are millionaire athletes, and they work hard, they genuinely have fun playing the game.
Plus I want to see more things like the Endzone Duck Duck Goose.
On this team, we are all united in a common goal: to keep my job.
