Roy Williams?

Dol-Fans Do you think that we, should go after Roy Williams? Or TJ-Houshmandzadeh. They are both on the trading block and we, could probably get one of them for  2 rounder or A 3rd rounder. I hope that we, pull the plug on one of these guy's. It will give us A real true Number 1 Wr.

Getting one of these Wr's Will help the office and good be very good for Ronnie and Ricky. Put Greg Camarillo at the number two Wr Spot and put Ginn and Best in the slot's With Either Roy William or TJ really should help us A lot.

Let's Go get one Dol-Fans

no

I refer you to the original Mind of Rzayo post for the heated “sandwich” debate between myself and finsxfactor, among others..

To sum it up, I want a sandwich (WR) made (drafted) by Bill Parcells, the Deli (NFL Draft) Master. Finsx wants a sandwich (WR) made (drafted, groomed) by a homeless man (Matt Millen) and his homeless buddy (Marinelli) and half-eaten (older) by a sandwich (WR) garbage can (Detroit).

Hope that made sense. Should probably just go read the thread.

ROFL!!!

props for using the ‘Trifecta sandwich parable’ yet again u r 2 much nicky!! [still laffin]

i think the sandwich is a metaphor for the "team"

and as part of “making the sandwich from scratch”, you want to pick fresh vegetables… errr players.

The WR, is just the pickle on the sandwich…. or is it the mayo?

Either way, I’m sure we were never debating a “heated sandwich”.

btw...why not guys...just because its packaged from detroit? its young and still fresh...

like i said before…why would you want to make your own sandwich if someone already made you one that is still fresh and good tasting?

Would that be a Tuna sandwich?

tough question

assuming we have as good of a draft as we did this year, that would mean trading Henne or Merling in addition to Kendall Langford. Sounds like a lot to me

WR

I wouldn’t want to spend the 2nd rounder we got for JT on a WR that we may not be guaranteed to re-sign for the future. I’d much rather use our picks on someone like Crabtree out of Texas.

Eyes will be on him

This Saturday. Texas Tech plays Nebraska, and the way NU’s secondary looks, I’ll be seeing lots of him. Oh well, silver lining, when you have lemons make lemonade and all that…I’ll be able to share with my Dolphin brethren how good he is.

Similar to my post

I posted awhile ago about if the Phins should try to get AQ (Anquan Boldin) in the begining of the year due to the fact that he was unhappy in AZ and we needed a #1 go getter. Now mind you I was hyped on the idea and AQ as everyone knows is a beast. But Bill didn’t even bother trying to do anything. He sat back, AZ kept AQ, he seems satisfied for now and he is up for some serious dough soon (no sandwich). He’s only 28 and from FL. But TJ is much older and doesnt have time to rebuild with us and we dont need to spend money on him because we are rebuilding. Roy is Roy, he can make things happen but in many fantasy drafts he wasn’t the first Lion taken. And Calvin has been making ore buzz anyway. i think we are better off waiting on the draft. maybe picking a defensive player with our first rounder and maybe getting some offenseive weapons in the 2nd round. In the 1st round there are guys that we can maybe pick up like Crabtree from Texas tech, Dez Bryant from Oklahoma State or even Jonathen matthews from San Diego state. Or hell we could even trade our first rounder for more picks in the draft this and next year. Bill Parcells knows how to pick ’em. the guys we got are doing ok. ets see how they look at the end of the year. I still think Devone Bess is ggoing to be our #1 and have a break out year this or next. But the main focus is youth, talent and physical size and the rest can be taught. Tuna will do whats best for the team, hell even Chad Johnson wanted to come to Miami. Everything happens for a reason.

i hope your not saying devon bess can be a true #1

a solid role player and an absolute steal for being undrafted yes, but not a #1.

for the time being, until we draft someone of #1 caiber I think he’ the best we got. I look at him a black wes welker. He’s good for the shrt yardage game

My Honest, Humble Opinion

I’m well aware that RW would be a huge upgrade over any receiver we have right now. And I know that we don’t have anybody that can be a #1 wideout on a Super Bowl team. I don’t believe that RW is worth the price that Detroit is asking (1st day pick + 2nd day pick). And his extension will have to be huge, because he’d be in a prime bargaining position: we gave up picks to get him, so we’re not going to let him walk away for nothing. Therefore, he can drive his price higher than he would normally get, and almost force us to overpay. Sure, he’s a gamebreaker, he’s still rather young, and he has all the skills you want in a WR, but I feel like our FO can find a similar (or better) player in the draft.

Many of us wanted Faneca in FA, we ended up with Smiley and Donald Thomas, a 6th round pick. 2 starters for less than the price of 1, and both are much younger. This is just one example, but I believe we are much better off letting Parcells and Ireland find a young (22 or under) stud in the draft for cheaper than RW will cost us, not only in his contract, but also the price to actually get him here. I think we have enough talent at WR to fill slots 2-4 (Ginn, Bess, Camarillo, in no particular order), and we should be able to fill slot 1 with a draft pick. My choice? Grab Michael Crabtree with our first pick and go from there. We would still have both our 2nd’s and the 4/5th we would’ve had to give up for RW.

You have RW agree to a contract extension before you trade for him

I would give a 2nd rd pick and maybe a 5th. I mean our second rd pick will probably be in the high 50th to low 60th pick anyway : )

2nd round pick?

i mean…take away henne cuz qbs are more valuable…and we got ours already

2nd round wrs…..usually stink

matt roth was a 2nd rd pick…id trade him for ricky

trade for either one of them

its no secret we desperately need WR help. here’s the thing, if BP and Ireland think its a good idea to get R. Williams than it probably is. if they don’t, then its probably not. But it seems to me it would be. my gut feeling though is that BP and co will believe that the Fins are not going to the SB this year, so dont use a draft pick on a WR that may only add 1-2 more wins, if that.

Basically what i am trying to say is that, it sounds like a good idea to me, but if those in charge dont think so, i trust them.

What I am hoping for is that Steve Breaston will continue to do a good job in AZ filling in for Boldin, thus they will feel like they dont need him and they wont franchise him or anything.

I want him in a Miami uni next year.

But what kind of money will Boldin want? Buckets of it. As tempting as it maybe we are better of in the draft.

I just don't see

Parcells and Ireland spending anymore than they absolutely have to on anyone. They are pretty tight with the purse it seems. I like they way they are looking at the long term health of the Dolphins.

JUST SAYIN

OH YEA….TRADE 1 OF OUR 2ND’S AND A 3RD NEXT YR FOR ROY.

GIMME A BREAK,.,,,IS A 2ND RD PICK GONNA OUTPLAY ROY WILLIAMS? NO.

FROM WHAT IM HEARING THE LIONS ARE DESPERATE. WE ALL KNOW HE WILL LEAVE AND THEY WILL GET NOTHING…SO GETTING A 2ND AND A LATER PICK ARE HUGE FOR THEM….THATS NICE INSTEAD OF NOTHING!

I agree.

IF:

- the lions would take a 2nd plus a lower round pick
AND
- we could renegotiate a reasonable contract based on playing time and incentives BEFORE A TRADE

I would say, “go for it”.
