Yards Per Attempt
Here's an article from the front page of si.com: read it here
For those of you who have A.D.D., I'll sum up the highlights.
Byrne says the true measure of a teams passing attack is their yards per attempt average because it takes into account things like yards lost from a sack and incompletions. Last year the Fins averaged 5.05 yards per attempt, bad enough for 31st in the league. This year, the Fins average 7.65 yards per attempt, good enough for third best in the NFL.
How good is that? Last years epic Patriots passing attack averaged 7.79 yards per attempt. We're only a measly eighth of a yard per pass attempt off of that team. Meanwhile the Jets average 5.88 yards per attempt and rank 20th in the league. Funny how one teams castoff is our treasure.
The best part? Our next two games are against the Broncos (31st in pass defense) and the Seahawks (29th in pass defense). We also have the Rams, 49ers, and Chiefs coming, which should also be a good chance to pad the passing stats and win total.

saw that too
Every meaningful offense stat points to this team playing incredible; the only thing that doesn’t seem to reflect that is power rankings, which we all know are bullshit anyway.
Turnover Margin – a good measure of how well you take care of the ball as well as how often you gain an extra possession. Usually a pretty telling statistic about a team’s success. Our turnover margin this season is +7
Yards per Pass Attempt – already pointed out in the article, pretty good at showing the effectiveness of the passing game.
Yards per Play – it’s exactly what it says it is, how many yards you gain on each play. Right now we’re averaging almost 6, while our opponents are at 5.5. Not a big difference, but over the course of 100 plays in a game, that’s an extra 40-50 yards in our favor, which usually amounts to a few more first downs, TOP, and opportunities to score.
Basically, our offensive efficiency is incredible, even if it’s not always pretty.
