Dolphins vs Bills Post-Game Thread

What a win!!!

Yeah.  Trent Edwards?  I'm not impressed.

Joey Porter?  Wasn't he supposed to struggle against the Bills OL and Jason Peters?  I don't think so.  J-Peezy owned the Bills.

And Ted Ginn?  He might not be a bust afterall.

Dolphins win 25-16 and improve to 3-4.  Leave thoughts below.

My complete wrap up later tonight and Nicky's gameballs at some time (hopefully).

Enjoy the rest of your football Sunday!!

Jason Allen

played surprisingly well at CB. Was always in tight coverage, although he had trouble with the throws to the back shoulder. Made a ton of tackles, and was pretty much all over the place. Looked alot better at CB than at safety

by Little Nicky 21 on Oct 26, 2008 4:13 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

possibly

Goodman played tighter coverage because he had a safety over the top, and that may or may not be contributed to Allen being on the other side.. Will Allen was also locking up. I wouldn’t say it was all on JA, but he was a part of the improved secondary play today no doubt

Big difference today

Was how much Ginn was targeted. I don’t have the numbers, but I gotta say it was at least 10 times, which is 1/3 of the pass attempts. He was HEAVILY involved in the gameplan today.. I like it.

What I liked

was the setup. They went up top the first play of the game, scared the corner a little. Then, for the rest of the game, he ran vertical and then broke back to the LOS. Curls and Posts work real nice when the defense is scared of the Long Ball

Our entire secondary

Lee Evans is the type of receiver that usually kills us (see AZ game, HOU game). We won because we pressured Edwards and kept the passing game to a minimum.

how about this

3 guys we’ve been calling out all year basically step up in the same game today.

Ted Ginn – we rip all season for not showing up and being a gamebreaker like he should, and he has a career day.

Jason Allen – we call him a bust, and he gets moved to CB and plays super-tight coverage all day, and adds a lot of tackles as well.

Brandon Fields – we were begging for another punter, and he puts 3 inside the 20 and 2 inside the 5 today.

Jason Allen was never a bust.

He came on strong last year, and was Y Bells choice for starting S all thru camp and pre-season and he earned it. The coaches messed up.

I think that new Ginn route we’re going to be seeing more of. I really think the coaches have some things up their sleeve they don’t want fully revealed unless they’re sure we’re in the hunt.

coming out party?

I hoppe that was a coming out party for Ginn. you see what he did today and think, why wasn’t he doing that all season. Hopefull him and Penny have got a rapport now. Im going ot pick him up in my fantasy league.

joey porter could make a play for Defensive POY and perhaps take a stab at the single season sack record. funny enough, we play the jets in the season finale. i wonder if favre would lay down for porter ala they way he did for Strahan.

I think Buffalo is a poser team heped by a weak schedule.

We are the best of the division

2-1. Jets are 1-1, Pats are 1-1, Bills are 0-1

Now , as I put forth on ESPN AFC East blog, if we sweep the division from here on out , that makes us 6-4, Bills 6-4, Pats 5-3, Jets-4-4. We win the tie breaker.

Of course that leaves 6 games on the table, but…THIS.IS.WHY.THEY.PLAY.THE.GAMES! Other than the Arizona game, we’re 3 plays away from being 6-1.

GO PHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My quick two cents on Ginn

Its a shame that many of us labeled him a bust so soon. Today goes to show that. The way I see the perception of Ginn’s performance has been unfair to say the least. Correct me if I am wrong, but i feel that since we drafted him with the ninth pick, we all felt that he needed to contribute immediately. I mean, the common thing is for a receiver to take 2-3 years to truly blossom. Since Ginn wasn’t the exception to this “rule”, then he automatically was a bust. Yeah we all want to have that rookie wr who comes in his first game and becomes an immediate stud. But in reality, the fact that this doesn’t happen so often is the very reason that makes the receivers that do break out immediately so special. We need to put our expectations in line with realistic assumptions of the production that comes out of this position. The learning curve that it takes for young receivers to achieve consistency is longer than we expect. We need to support him and take the pressure off. Let him become consistent.

Remember all the young receivers that do blow onto the scene usually are drafted into a pretty established situation in regards to the respective offensive system. Not all, but most. Let’s give Ginn a break. In fact lets embrace him and hope that he doesn’t get so fed up by all the negative flak that has gone his way so far and end up going to some other team when his contract expires.

Great Win!!!!!

2-1 in the division…..Not Bad……I love me some Chad Pennington…….good to see Ginn have a big game but I will hold my praise until he can put up big numbers regularly, this offense needs it……..How about that defense…………safety, 4 turnovers and two sacks….gotta love it. Nice job by the coaching staff having these guys ready this week and then turning it up a knotch after half time……..Just think, if we could learn to win the close ones ( Jets,Houston) we would be 5-2 and in first place……..but that will come with time this team is young………oh did I say I love me some Chad Pennington……….Who’s next!!!!!!!!!!!

Watched the game via DVR

got home from work after a total (self imposed) media blackout all day – and holy crap what a great decision! We freakin won!! ARE ya freakin kidding me??? This is the happiest i’ve been as a Dolphin fan in a long long time! Bills killed! At least til we see ’em in Toronto. I love upstate NY when te Bills lose to Miami! Great week ahead for me!!!

Heck yeah I will !!!!!

With some moderation – we DO still have to play them one more time. But i’m gonna enjoy it as much as I can!

I wish I could have watched it live with you guys

but I tracked it on espn.com on my phone. Man, it’s a damn good feeling to win again, against the pesky Bills of all teams.

FINZ LEADING DIVISIONAL GAMES FTW WHUDDUP NOW!? HOW DO OUR PORPOISE ASSES TASTE??

I thought for sure that....

Trent Edwards would find more holes than swiss cheese in our backfield and
that Evans would again own us….. But man I was totally wrong and glad to be so !

It did however take some key turnovers by the bills and us capitalizing on them to
get this win….

I’M SO FRICKING STOKED RIGHT NOW TO BEAT THESE BUNGALO BILLS ….. (Now if we can just start beating the teams we should be able to beat !)
