Fast Forward: Dolphins in 2011....
I really like Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback articles he writes for si.com. In the opening paragraph of this weeks installment, he talks about a probable lockout in 2011, if a new labor agreement isn't reached with the players at the end of next year.
I hate the idea of a lockout, and I don't like the idea of not having a salary cap. I don't think any of us want a lockout for obvious reasons, less clear is the issue of a salary cap. I don't know how profitable the Dolphins are compared to other franchises, or even if future ownership would be willing pay a premium price for premium players.
But one thing I do know is that 2011 will be the start of the prime years for this franchise to make a deep run in the playoffs. The draft this year and the next two drafts will be the base of this team for our best shot at a Super Bowl title.
So what do you guys think, does not having a salary cap benefit the Dolphins? If there's a lockout in 2011, how much does it set back the development of draft picks and future draft picks?
Cheers.

I read the same article
and the thing that i kept thinking about is how it would screw the fins. i mean if we stay on schedule, we should compete for the SB in 2011. well thats going to be hard to do if there is no season.
Coudl you imagine. say in 2010 the fins go 11-5 and then in 2011 we are ready to take the jump to the next level, and bam! no more football. that would be devastating.
Im not sure how no salary cap would impact the dolphins. I do know that two of the three team who share our division are major markets; boston and NY. I would imagine Buffalo would have a hard time with it, since they are small market. It would be better if we were in the AFC south (where we belong) cause Houston is the only major market there.
as the article points out, this issue is already affecting teams, cause agents know about it (obviously) and are negotiation on behalf of their clients taking this into consideration.

our new owner
is filthy ass rich. i believe i read somewhere that he would be the second richest owner in the league and that he would spend if an uncapped year came about.
