Dolphins vs Texans: Prediction Time!
It's time to make our picks. First, as usual, are a random sampling of some experts talking heads:
| Mike Ditka - Dolphins | Sterling Sharpe - Dolphins |
| Chris Mortensen - Texans | Jay Novacek - Dolphins |
| Tom Jackson - Dolphins | Pete Prisco - Texans |
| Ron Jaworski - Texans | Harmon Forecast - Texans |
| Peter King - Texans | Adam Schein - Texans |
The lack of respect continues for the Dolphins. But I like that. There's nothing like being the underdog...and then pulling out the victory.
So this week, I'm going to say that the Fins will indeed find a way to beat the Texans for the first time in franchise history - improving my personal pick record to 4-1. Ronnie Brown should have another solid game - perhaps 115 yards and a touchdown. Chad Pennington, though, is going to be the reason the Dolphins win. I can see a 22 of 28 kind of day for 200+ yards and 2 touchdowns. Something like that.
I do think the defense will give up more points than they have the last 2 weeks, though. Andre Johnson is a total beast and Matt Schaub will feed him the football. When all is said and done, the Dolphins will indeed squeak by in a tight game.
Dolphins win 27-21 in a game that is close throughout.

Miami 23-17
in overtime. On a Ronnie Brown TD run. Of 20+ yards. From the Wildcat.
We’ll start slow, Houston jumps out to a 17-3 lead at half. We come out in the second half, Ginn runs the opening kick back. Lots of punts, then late in the fourth Joey Porter records a defensive hat trick (sack, FF, FR) and we drive in for the tying score. Yeremiah Bell picks off a post pattern on the Texans last gasp effort to win. Then OT.
And by the time the final TD is scored, I will be drunk. That’s my prediction.
On this team, we are all united in a common goal: to keep my job.

did you notice
last week you commented on Chris Mortenson’s picking of the Dolphins and his great record on the season, and this week he is picking against us.
I’d like to know the logic behind his picks

Dolphins 24-Texans 10
Ill spot them a TD but our D should dominate, Ronnie has a big day 100+ and 2 TDs (maybe 1 of them is a passing TD lol)
keep in mind this is optimistic Dave’s prediction :o)

Miami 26-13
After a big play by the Texans early, which makes the entire community go through a change of underwear, the D comes up big. The offense plays smart ball. Long drives and lots of time of possession help distribute the points evenly through 4 quarters.
This will be smashmouth and surgical.

WEEKLY RZ BREAKDOWN
THINGS I SEE….
I think Penny will get pressure on a consisten basic…..so look for short Bess routes…..and allot more bubble wr screens.
the texans are talented up front…but real young. i think thye can be penalized for their over aggression….look for a reverse or ricky draw plays.
no tight end of note here…so Bell is free to help on A.Johnson….take him out of the game.
Schaub is reported to be still ill….make him work…pressures…hits….he might make a mistake due to being outta gas late.
Texans are in love with Slaton…hes a poor mans portis to me….him blocking in the backfield will be a welcome sign to his assinged man
Wildcat? Look for it less…..last game i called it being used early…but this week let them look for it….and when the 3rd quarter hits use it.
Hurry up offensive looked great. allot of the success the wildcat has got is from us getting to the line quick and makin them use the guys they have in….the best time? after a nickel or dime was in cuz we converted a long pass….then let those extra dbs try to stop that play…riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
Smart thing to do….the Ricky passing option is wide open. Chad was open…but a qb open means nothing lol.
Ronnie will throw at least once…time to keep em honest on that play. look for a tebow fake to the middle…backout and pass.
Porter can really get at em this week. im expecting it….how bout mr.porter? looks like it was just coaching that made him suck last yr
get ginn involved. reverse 1st play…..or flea flicker 1st play….we gott throw a bomb sometime or they are gonna stack us.
Jake Long vs Super Mario…..i see a draw going down. Just keep him from gettin sacks and we will be ok
would love to see a fake punt or fg when the time is right. last game we had a 4th n 1 from the chargers like 40….punted touchback…20 yr net. give it a try…..the league is due.
last game i didnt hear the name Langford or Merling….i need to see those guys make some plays. i propose allot of stunts….drop a lineman…blitz a lb….dont give em time….confuse them.
back to slaton…hes a hit n miss guy. gotta make him work for his yardage,,,,that means no huge gaping holes. slaton is overated and i think we can hit him in the mouth and take away his rookie high….
look out for Texans deep bombs….if not for bad throws we would have given up a pass play for over 50-70 yards every game. Bell needs to play like he did last wee…i swore polamalu was out there. Roth….just stay crazy and well be ok.
Coaching…..early play for pts….we cant fall behind….get points early…that how we thrive….early leads then full out chaos cuz we can take chances.
More Ronnie/Ricky screens….they are always open. THIS TEAM is all about 4-8yrds a play….that and the wildcat have made for 3rd n 2’s all over the place.
"Well said."

2 problems i have...
First, Owen Daniels is a good tight end. Don’t forget about him.
Two, Slaton is more of a poor man’s Brian Westbrook with the way he catches the ball.

Let's be realistic Dolfans. . .
Miami wins 52-3. I gave the Texans a FG so that I didn’t seem cocky:
Fasano:2 TDs
Ricky:2TDs
Ronnie:1TD and a FG from the wildcat formation
Pennington: 1 TD
Camarillo: 1 TD(for my new FF free agent pick-up)
Just so you know!

Just wanted to say
That it was great of you to stop in and answer questions and hang out. Love the wit too! That link is hysterical!
My hope for the Texans is that they don’t have to endure a season like Miami did last year – and I see no reason that they will – of course, that said….I hope the healing begins for your team next week, not this one.
Best of luck to you too Tim

superstitious
Like a player that wears the same socks every game. I made winning predictions for the last two games on this thread, so I guess I gotta make one today or risk jinxing the team…..sigh….
Miami 31 Houston 28……I guarantee this will be a tougher game than the last 2 were though
also….because nobody demanded it…..some more off-the-cuff predictions….
Ronnie Brown will get fined for a choreographed celebration called “the Longhorn” this week and it’ll involve a Texan cheerleader
After stubbing his forefinger, Ricky Williams will press it to his mouth out of instinct – fearing that he is sending a signal that promotes pot smoking, the NFL will fine him as well
Chad Pennington will chew out a WR on the sideline for dropping a pass, and then immediately afterward, drop one of Ronnie’s in the end-zone

but i have a feeling that of those only 1 could actually happen...
1. RB despite that being hilarious…would not celebrate anything like that again..(atleast for now)
2. LOLOLOLOLOL…ricky williams stubbing his finger than pressing it to his mouth…this i think could end up being fined. YOu know the jackasses who run that fining committee like to pick on ricky..or like NOT to pick on people…who pick on ricky (like that stomp…WDF?!??!?!)
3. CP has better hands than our WR’s…he wont drop a td pass…or he wont “chew someone” out

My guess will be a
24-6, i don’t think they could make us a TD. There OL has surrender 10 sacks already. There rushing D is not that good, so our running game will be some what successfull and will open up the passing game, then add the Bottlenose(wild cat) into the mix with some passing from RB and you got a TOTAL clock control. We are going to stop there running game and this will be a lot of 1-2-3-OUT for them. Maybe a 3 great pass plays but not for td’s and with 2 field goal.

Wow.
We sound like the Chargers fans last week on their site with all of these lofty predictions.
I’ll be the first one to agree that the 2008 Miami Dolphins are a far cry from the 2007 version, but we’re still a ways off from being able to be cocky. As Sparano has preached, “stay humble, stay hungry.”
"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." - Theodore Roosevelt
