Blackout of Dolphins/Chargers game possible in Miami area
There are currently just less than 10,000 tickets available for Sunday's game at Dolphin Stadium. If those tickets do not sell, then the Dolphins could face their first black out since 1998.
What's the issue? Season ticket sales have dropped over 11,000 since 2006 and are down over 5,000 from last season. That means the team will rely more on individual game ticket sales than they usually do.
So go out and buy tickets...or else those in the Miami area may not be able to watch their beloved Dolphins on Sunday.

I'm in Puerto Rico..
and i will go to the Raiders game with 3 more friends of mine and my wife. I know that the tickets and parking is not sheap, but in tail gating you can get drunk in a hurry and not for much ; ).
- other friends of mine are going to flight for this game, one of them been a SD fan.
You know what?? i know that if buy a jersey in and store, they usually give you(for FREE) 2 tickets for the game, so get started and buy your new Miami jersey.
Don’t be affraid , my fellow Dolphins fan, cause we will WIN this game!!
I will see the Dolphins win a SUPER BOWL before i die(21 years and counting)

Here's a questionfor those in the Miami area that have the Sunday Ticket package:
If the game gets blacked out locally, will you still be able to watch on the Ticket?
by Matty I on Oct 1, 2008 5:09 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
no, it if it is scheduled to be on a local channel, it is not also broadcast on Sunday Ticket
only games not scheduled on the local affiliate are allowed to be broadcast, and that doesn’t change if it gets blacked out locally. :(

no sheet
A metropolis the size of Miami/Dade with all the football that goes on there can’t fill a 80,000 plus stadium. Kinda sucks. I have a way different point of view I guess. I mean, I live in a state where when the home team plays, they sell out. And have since 1962. No matter how good or how bad, or what kind of weather. We show up. The stadium becomes the 3rd largest population of the entire state on game day. Don’t tell me you don’t have the bodies. My question is……..where is the heart?
Show up! If you get a blackout, its your own damn fault.

Husker, I spent 4 months in Omaha a few years back opening a restaurant and everybody, and I mean everbody lives for the Nebraska Cornhuskers there. They played the game over the intercom at the Albertson's on gameday.

kinda crazy huh?
The whole economy on Saturdays can be charted on game day. And its not just the big cities, its statewide. Hope you had a good steak while you were here! lol

Absolutely! But I gotta tell you I froze my butt off. Being from North Carolina, I wasn't prepared for just how cold it gets.

I'll check it out
I’m not in Omaha very much, but If I get a chance, I’ll make sure to pay a visit. I love going to Omaha for the CWS if I can get tickets. I’ll keep Carrabba’s in mind next time.

you have to understand, we are a small market. Lots of franchises don’t even come here. And if they do, they land in Omaha or Lincoln. The city I live in Grand Island (home of Tom Rathman) is about 50k + or -. Depends if I.C.E has made a sweep or not.

HERE IS THE DEAL.....
One thing everyone seems to forget is our economy is in the dumps….im a perfect example.
every sunday the phins play at home i CAN and WANT TO go….its just its too expensive.
Parking at the stadium is 20 bucks…a ticket…anywhere decent…is around 50 bucks….sodas (yeah right) are 4-6bucks……anything to eat is 8 bucks a person…blah blah blah blah blah….
going to a game is over 100 dollars anyway u slice it. people down here pay some of the most expensive living ocsts in the usa. just getting a studio anywhere no in crackhouse land down here is over 700….
many people make less than 500 a week……so are you gonna spend 1/5 of your weekly earnings on a random phins chargers game? or are you gonna watch it on tv with some friends and some drinks? especially with hdtv these days….i know when i watch it on my big screen in pretty comfy.
times are rough…..i saw someone on cnn saying STOP GOING OUT TO DINNER!!! this is serious…so people are cuttign entertainent costs.
i go to school….work a fulltime job…..and drive 40 min a day to school (gas)….so its hard right now for me to just blow 100-150bucks….hell thats what i spent on my school books this semester!!! just for 2 classes at that
we are broke…we arent bad fans….ppl hate on marlins fans….do u wanna get off work a 5….go directly to 1-95…..get there at 1st pitch time….and spend 50 bucks min???? for marlins vs nationals?
when u break it down….the dolphins are lucky that 70,000 people somehow all come together to give them 100 bucks each for 3 hrs of entertainment….
lower the prices….its ridiculous.
at least gimme free parking…..i mean that costs u nothing

exactly
the cost of tix down here is ridiculous, traffic is shitty to and from the game and beer cost 12 bucks. Too much money that most of us don’t have to spend for sitting in the hot sun with 12 watered down beer? Pretty much explains it.

I live 1.5 hrs away
Just outside the blackout zone, used to go to at least 3-4 games per year and I can tell you it feels like a 6 hour drive home when they lose. And right I want to see more out of this team before I spend $100+ and 3hrs driving on the hopes that they might win.
by Wade on Oct 1, 2008 8:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Not too worried..
dolphins games usually sell out within the last couple of days before the game. i would go if possible, but i might be working on sunday.

This is surprising
considering this game was used as a fundraiser for the entire youth football league I coach with. That’s 14 cities in Broward that sold tickets for 20 a pop to anybody. (10 bucks went back to the league) I would think that would’ve boosted ticket sales for this game. Cmon people go to the game!!
On this team, we are all united in a common goal: to keep my job.

God I am both crushed and happy as hell...
that I dont live in south fla anymore. I was born and raised in Miami and the ONLY thing I really remember with true fondess about my Dad is that he had season Tickets to the Fins in the Orange Bowl. We had Dolphins stadium seats and everything (you know the folding padded chairs that clip on to the bleachers?) and it was a huge effort to get to the game after church on sundays but we always made it! When the fins moved to Joe Robbie all of a sudden a 1 hour trip from home to the seat became a three hour marathon of bad roads horrible parking and WAAAAY too expensive EVERYTHING to go to games. As I grew up and started trying to make my way to the games on my own prices had gone up even more….it sucked. Last game I got to go to was in 1998 when I had won 2 Free tickets to the Fins/Steelers game (the one with the monster Zack hit on the bus…what a great game that was…but I digress) and somehow still managed to spend $150 to get there park and have TWO beers and ONE dog each. It was insane and as much of a fan as I am I swore to never go back unless things changed. I moved away from SoFL the next year and have become totally dependent on watching the Fins on TV and I gotta tell ya….I love my couch and big screen HDTV + NFL sunday ticket.
I miss the Orange Bowl…
