Ricky's back!

A nice read about RW getting a letter signed by our new VP Bill Parcells.

"No problem children or pot heads" oh really?? :)

http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/365133.html

This brings to mind the comment that some have made about Cam "lying" to us. I think we have just seen the first spot on Bill's brand new, clean, white dress shirt.

This article clearly
stats the good reasons Parcells might have for keeping Ricky on the roster and your posting it to bash?

~Brown recovers fully, having a healthy Williams would give the Dolphins the kind of two-back tandem that is popular in the NFL.~

~Also, if Williams can shake off the rust of being a 31-year-old who has played 12-plus games in the past four seasons, it would give the Dolphins another asset they could trade.~

~Williams is set to make $730,000 next season, hardly expensive for a running back playing well.~

Just to point out a few. If anything this articles shows that Bill isn't "lying" to us.

Nice try though.

not trying
I'm quoting:

At his introductory media session last Thursday, Parcells said: ``I'm interested in good-character people. I don't want thugs and hoodlums on the team. I really don't. I don't want bad-character guys. I don't want problem children. I'm more willing to let someone else try to address those things with other people.''

On Monday, Parcells spoke to the Virginia Tech team, in town for the Orange Bowl: ``I'm not looking for any dope heads, lazy guys. I'm looking for football players.

I'm glad he wants Ricky back, I think it's the right move. You can never have to many good players even if one of them is a "pot head problem child".

I think it's funny/odd (if not lying) that the same day he is standing before all those young guys saying what he did while at the same time sending a letter to our resident pot head/quitting running back that he wants him back. It just proves to me that Bill is still among the living and he hasn't advanced to sainthood yet as some here might want to make out.
No double standard from me and I hope he will be able to turn it around; I just won't believe it until I see it. But at the same time I will keep score.

HMMM
What has Ricky every done that one could even think of labeling him a 'thug or hoodlum'?

And can you name a football coach or another player that ever called him lazy?

OK - so the guy has a diagnosed mental illness, but if he is being treated and healthy, and by his account 'more mature', why wouldn't you want him back.

very little risk, very high reward.

the kind of move mr moral authority Cam wouldn't due (unless of course he was up against it and needed a win)

Bill is fair
He will give Ricky what he needs to end on a good note. Ricky has paid his dues to the NFL so why  keep punishing him. If Ricky slips up again  or is not able to do the job he will be cut. Bill wants good football players to help his team. If Ricky fits that mode fine if not he will move on. Ricky can be a big asset to this team especially when we don't know how long it will take brown to get back to his form. Neo I agree totally that a two back system with ricky and brown would be awesome. Talk about how fresh these guys will be in the 4th quarter when its time to run out the clock.

Jeez...
I cannot even remember the last time even we had the opportunity to run off the clock leading to a win.

Ricky
Don't be surprised if Parcells is just working the angle to trade Ricky in the offseason. I wouldn't mind keeping him though.

Yeah, that thought...
crossed my mind, too.  Parcells is one of those guys whose opinion matters in the NFL.  If he seems to think enough of Ricky to want him back, that's going to raise other people's opinion of Ricky.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded, now.  OTOH, I don't resent his being brought back, as long as it's okay with the other guys on the team.

Help
Hello, First time and my first post.
We are Miami fan, but we do not get all the news here ( Baghdad, Iraq ). the last one we got was Cam is gone, now, is Caper gone 2 ?
Here in Baghdad we WELCOME THE TUNA.

We have 2 Jets and 1 Pats fan with us, but we kick there a## every time they want to talk about there team. ( 15 Dolphins Marine Fan in our unit) they have no chance. They call us the South Beach Unit.
Please let us know if Caper is still a Dolphin, we all like Caper here.
Thank You.
God Bless, and Go Phins.

first off - God Bless and best wishes
The entire staff was pretty much dismissed.

The reasons give were.... It was a favor to all the coaches so they could get a head start on other opportunities if they became availible.

Ireland did suggest that the new coach may want some of them back (although he did not suggest whom) and that they could be interviewed/rehired once a new coach is in place.

That said, I would not expect capers back. he isn't a parcells guy, nor do they have the same defensive philosophies.

God bless....
...and thanks for all you and your buddies do. We all talk about our favorite Dolphin players and use words such as "toughness" and even "hero" to describe players.

But you guys are the ones who really show "toughness" and you're the real heroes!
