Mercury Morris goes off
Incase you missed it yesterday, former Dolphin RB Mercury Morris was asked about the Patriots potentially going undefeated. What did he have to say? Just watch below. Trust me, it's worthwhile!
Yup, they're docked there wating for them. And when if they do move in, Merc will be wearing a tux waiting for his bride.
What?
In all honesty, Merc makes a good point here. It's just not articulated very well. All this talk about the Patriots going undefeated and all despite the fact that they are only halfway through the regular season. They need to continue to be perfect in the regular season and then make it through the playoffs unscathed.
I think one of the most ironic things about this season and the potential of the Pats doing unbeaten is that it comes after Mercury Morris wrote a rap song about going undefeated entitled, "Ain't Never Gonna Happem Again." You can read the lyrics to the song by clicking here. Here's perhaps the most ironic verse of the song:
We'll see what happens from here on out. But this is the first time I've really seen the '72 Dolphins this riled up over their record. I guess they are as worried about it as some fans are.

The pats...
The one team that had a chance to beat them, Indy, couldn't get it done at home, despite a sub par game from the Pats, and despite being handed a bunch of gift penalties from the officials.
Then of course, to follow that up, the Colts laid a golden egg in SD with Manning throwing picks on seemingly every other play and Viniateri looking like Scott Norwood.
I don't see anyone beating them this year.
And Mercury? Seriously, enjoy the domino games at the retiree home, it looks silly for an old man to be getting sour over a record. All records are meant to be broken anyway..

Seriously though, who can you pick to beat them?
They make very few mistakes, and they take advantage of almost every opportunity. When i heard those whiners a few weeks back complaining about them running up the score, my response was "Well, if you don't like it STOP THEM!". So far, no one seems able to do that.
The Colts came the closest, and believe me, I was rooting for the Colts. But damn! You have to respect how seriously good the Pats are this year.

Yeah, the '72...
Part of the bitterness may be coming from the fact that it's the rival Pats. I don't remember this happening in '85 when it was the Bears.

It's the "Tubes"
There are more national outlets for opinion now, with all the major networks having some degree of internet presence and, therefore, some kind of internet writing staff. And they all have comments forums. It gets into the gyro and just keeps cycling around, growing in size and gravity until it draws everyone in. Including Mercury Morris.

Of course there is more media attention...
The comment about the 24/7 news/spin cycle is quite correct.
And let's face it, if people didn't want to talk about it, weren't interested, then we'd hear about something else ( would you rather hear about the pats going undefeated or something even completely impossible...like Britnney's comeback.)
Oh and yes, MM was worth a laugh with that video.
