What to draft for?
Yeah, I'm already thinking of the draft. And I'm actually glad and Cam & Randy are trying to aquire picks for the next draft. What I what to know from the Dolfans out there is, where would you like the picks to go as far as positions? For me, I think we could use one or two O-line picks, but I think the bulk of the picks should go in defense, except for LB. Focus especially on secondary, and grab a couple of D-line players. But that's me, and I'm not an expert, so I could be totally way wrong. So what are your thoughts? What positions would you like to be addressed in the draft?

Hey...
About the picks, I'd say the O-line has been one of the few areas on the team that's played well (along with Ronnie Brown obviously). So a pick there for a top tackle would be ok, but I suspect the dolphins are feeling alright about Vernon Carey at LT. If they did want an OT, then Jake Long out of Michigan is probably the guy.
So with that in mind, you look at the defense and there are few spots that don't need upgrading. An interior lineman would be my pick, perhaps Glenn Dorsey out of LSU. We are going to keep getting run over by teams until we get someone to anchor that middle.
I don't think any of the players eligible for the draft, in the secondary (DB, S) are anywhere near good enough to be top five picks. The dolphins could trade down to get kenny phillips out of miami though, later in the first round.
All the secondary
Phillips
Lots of picks...
Trade most of our high salary vets for draft picks (trade Taylor for a 2nd and 3rd pick). Both Zach and Taylor have been class acts, but now we need a new identity to this defense. In two or three years we'll be in the play-offs with a solid, young, and fast team.
I love how the Redskins have two stud safeties. I would love to have a combo like that. They can really set the tone of a game.
DB DB DB DB DB
I think we need to go defense all around. DB, DL, and possibly LB depending on how Crowder develops and what happens with ZT and JT. DB has got to be our top priority though.
The Phins can find a couple of role players on offense through free agency, and they'll be fine. We're already putting up enough points to win most games, if our defense could get off the field and stop teams on 3rd down, and that all falls on the defensive backfield.
About Phillips...
Looking at Miami's record and prospects, you have to think a top 5, possibly top 3, pick is a certainty. We'll see who they take but it is hard to argue against defense, defense, defense :)
Depends
Baker
All subjective right now, but....
Franchise guy
I also agree with everybody saying we need to trade our vets for draft picks. I've loved Zach and Jason for years, too, but nobody's sacred now. Besides, I'd like to see them get a chance to play for a really good team before they retire. The Dolphins aren't going to be that good that soon.
All in all, I think I wouldn't focus on a position. I'd take the best person to build a team around. A leader, hard worker, high-character guy. We ought to be able to get all that plus talent with a pick as high as we're likely to have.
After that, I'd go for D-line picks -- tackles, then ends. A stud O-lineman or 2. Then DBs.
If Beck turns out not to be the real deal, as I suspect, we can draft a QB in a year or two. We should still be bad enough then to get a high pick.
Go long
Agree with you that...
Look at the defense, you are looking at a virtual overhaul of almost the entire unit. On the offense things are better, but there are some huge question marks...namely at QB, the most important position. Nobody can say for sure, yay or nay, that Beck will be the guy. If he is, then you still need an impact tight end, a top-notch OL, maybe a RB depending on Brown's recovery, and possibly more help at receiver depending on how Ginn & Hagan develop.
In summary: Huge rebuilding process.
Rebuild everything
(The only exception is I think Ronnie Brown is the real deal at running back, so I'd pass on RBs.)
Imagine a future team that has a couple of young O-linemen like Sims and Webb, and a couple of young D-tackles like Bowen and Gardener (or better, preferably). We haven't had top talent on both sides of the line at the same time since . . . what, the early '80s?
